If I had a killer 3pt range, was 6'6", could run like the wind, and had mad hops, I would be a great NBA player...too bad, I'm only 5'6", and can't shoot the rock worth a damn from that range...oh, not to mention I can't run like the wind either.

The thing is...

I don't give a flying fuck! :D

That's the amzing thing, no killer app, no $500 million budget, no Oprah,no Ellen, no Media Buzz, being called a failure so many times, and it keeps on selling.

Imagine what it could have done with the ad budget Kinect had.

Could we have seen 8/9... Maybe 10 Million by the end of the year?

that would give you 10-20 million a year contract, not $500 million.

Aaaah...but compared to how much I make NOW...it would be a magnitude GREATER than $500 million.  Also, can you imagine if Xbox 360 followed up a console that had an install based on 130 million units and growing...WOW...that would be amazing!

I do...I would have a annual salary of $10-20 million, just for showing up!

It certianly was...people seems to really love those classics like Mario, Zelda, Metroid, etc....some of the best sellers on the system.  My kids love Mario kart...imagine that rich heritage...the same characters from my youth.

Sony has confirmed that these number are for shipped, NOT sell thru.

http://www.engadget.com/2010/11/30/sony-ships-4-1-million-playstation-move-controllers-to-retailers/

My question is whether this is for each piece of move apparatus shipped, by that I mean...the barebones move package ships without a navigation controller, so is that counted as another piece?  Interesting, since most gamers need 2 sets to play with friends locally...as far as $$$ to Sony, it matters not, since they get paid, nonetheless.

I take it you didnt actually read the press release and asterisk numero uno? It clearly puts to rest one of the ridiculous arguments against PS Moves sales officially.

Its shipped, and its strictly MOVE controllers and hardware bundles. No PSEye's and no Navigations.

Does anyone know how many Wiimotes have been shipped WW so far? I'd like to know.

Does anyone know why we are talking about how many Wiimotes being shipped in a PS Move shipment sales thread? I'd like to know.

'Cos everyone and their dog is comparing Move to Kinect in this thread, I'd like to know how they stack up against Wiimotes sold.

MOVE and Kinect can be compared on some level...both are new peripherales launched recently.

Why on earth anyone would wanna compare them to Wiimote sales is beyond me

[start sarcasm] Hey hey lets compare MOVE/KINECT sales to Dualshock 3's and Xbox 360 Controllers while we're at it  [/end sarcasm]

Okay, then mabe it ought to be compared to Wii's first few weeks?

Given that Sony themselves will never know the true install base for Move and all estimates will be based primarily on trying to guess the average ration of Move controllers to an individual, I can only assume all threads related to shipped numbers (which the original piece seemed to be clearly referring to) will be suitably epic.

All I know is, if they've sold 4.1 to retailers then the basic sell through is either okay or shippments will soon collapse as there is no way retailers will keep taking stock if it isn't selling.  Most likely, based on the fact that despite some stores being stocked sky high others are definately running out it's selling well enough on an on-going basis worldwide although there are also clearly allocation issues at the store level - which are really the retailers fault as normally Sony will deliver to the retailer and the retailer will decide the split to the stores.

What we need now is a true, killer app with a high enough attach rate to shed some light on the potential install base.

Until then, it's all wild guesses all the way.

Shipped numbers are what matter the most anyway,in my opinion..

Wonder what the shipped numbers were on the Kin . . . ?

Hmm, if Move REALLY sold that many units in so short a time, that that clearly means that the device is selling primarilly to current PS3 owners (since PS3 sales have not significantly risen), which is exactly what I expected, but probably not what Sony wanted. Sony wants new gamers that would have otherwise bought a Wii, which I don't see happening. The best that will likely happen for Sony is, as Malstrom said, keeping the CURRENT PS3 owners on that console and dissuading them from going out and buying a Wii.

If Sony really wants NEW consumers on their consoles, they need the device AND the console much cheaper, not to mention far more games that these new consumers would like. Right now the price is far too high to jump on board, and there are far too few games in general on the device, let alone games that the expanded audience would want.
