It's already laughable enough to consider Move and Kinect serious competition, but IGN never fails to hit new lows. |
Nah, this isn't as bad as their post-NSMBW articles.

Above: still the best game of the year.

I dunno, how many fans bought a DS Lite and a Wii in the same year?

i already spend more money on iphone games than i do on ds games. and it's not just apple in the mobile market but also google, they aren't huge forces in the video game word right now but their importance is rising.
ipad is several years behind the iphone in relevance but competitors are coming to this market as well. i guess what i'm trying to say is that the market is evolving on one of those changes is a lot more options for where to game. apple/google isn't putting nintendo/ms/sony out of business but it would be wrong for any of them to ignore the market trends.

Or a GBA and a GameCube for that matter, though the latter isn't a positive example

Monster Hunter: pissing me off since 2010.

Because they can't make a Sony vs Nintendo war credible anymore. |
Let's face it, the only time they ever could do it credibly was when the PSone was just on the market.
OT:
Give me HD. Give me accurate Motion Controls and drop the waggle. Keep pointer controls. Give me a true next-gen Zelda early. Give me more 2D stuff. Give me a revival of the JRPG. Don't charge for Online. <3

N64 was actually fairly competitive in the US during 1996-1999, and Nintendo's own software still generally matched or exceeded the best PS1 sellers.
Early DS vs PSP (2004-2005) was pretty competitive too.
I think the late 2012 prediction is spot-on.
The case is laid out fairly well -- except that Nintendo is not going to do something just to benefit third parties after giving them multiple opportunities this generation, only to be met with poor ports and minigame madness.
