Forums - Sales - Why is Xbox so Strong in Americas ?

Because, aside from the RRoD, it doesn't really do anything wrong.  It's a well rounded machine with pretty much all you really need in a console........no.  That can't be it.

5 bucks (USD) per month now, I've always been cool with the hardware itself, but wtf is that?

simply because they market it more and americans are controlled by the media

Because americans are easy to brainwash.

Really?!? I guess buying a PS3 at an excessive high price when it was  first released just because of brand "loyalty" is not brainwashing at all!!!!!! (Hello Europe minus the UK!)

of course not. choosing a brand over value is never brain washing

Because when it launched it had the best value if you wanted to play hd games (cheaper than ps3 for hd games). and at the end of the day that matters to americans more than some brand they are buying. Its all about the value. So unless you felt the need for blu ray movies (which it appers not as many did) you would of chosen the 360.

It is more expensive in the long run for online play, but you get so much more and the community is so much more vibrant that from a gamers perspective it would worth the cost. the value was there for it as it was directly related to gaming.

That's more an illusion than reality though, you are forgetting that all that money would yield you a good PC on top of not having to pay as much for games. Not to mention I mute other people most of the time when I played online because it was atrocious, very vibrant indeed though, in asshole meters.

Yeah being American really helped Xbox/360 be the top selling console there didn't it! *cough* PS2 and Wii*

Lots of racist idiots in here
.. shame on you.

The Xbox is just a well rounded console like D21lewis said, and it has some well received shooters which is a pretty populer genre in US

I'm pretty sure most of the people who are saying that are just being satirical towards everyone who say the 360 doesn't sell in Japan because it's American.

Personally though I do believe shooters are the main reason it is doing well this gen here. Also combined with the fact that it is a great console overall to have.

Saying that it's because Americans are brainwashed is a very trollish commentary, and while some may have said it joking, I'm sure that a lot of people here believe so. Why some can't accept that there are people with different tastes than theirs, and marketing doesn't have anything to do with it? I find funny that some Sony fans have a superiority complex, and they think that if someone prefer the XBox to the PS, it's because he/she is retarded/brainwashed.

Dont you know the rules...?

Its ok to racially stereotype people from the US and UK.. all other racial slurs will resuslt in a warning or a ban.

It should go both ways, but the mods do as they wish when they wish.

I'm pretty sure Beuli2 was just joking though....going with the kind of posts he's been making recently.

This and Microsoft is a U.S. company.

Funny though as i'm an American (and I wish I wasn't) and I prefer Japanese products.

Then quit whining and GTFO

Things Americans care about

  1. Price - 360 cost of entry is lower
  2. Games - mostly what their friends are playing, see COD
  3. Having fun with friends and having a good time - yeah, that $5 a month for Live isn't going to stop anyone, I spent more than that in a day at the arcade

Things fanboys think Americans care about

  1. Graphics - nobody gives a shit, see COD and Wii.
  2. "Value" - if all your friends play on the 360, playing on PSN for free and watching bluerays isn't going to get them to switch.  Exception: if your friends are on PSN, you have no friends or you are not buying a PS3 to game on
  3. Patriotism - if PS3 sold for $100 nobody would give a shit if it came from a dictatorship using starving children working in a sweatshop.
  4. Obscure imports/exclusives from Japan - it's America, not otakuland
  5. Reliability - MS replaces the RRODs 3 years out, and it's a nonissue at this point.  Most laptops don't last 3 years either, electronics that cheap become mostly disposable.  Simpler machines were bulletproof, my Atari 800/NES probably still works and I have seen Okidata dot matrix printers take tons of abuse and keep on trucking.

I have a good pc. But if you wanted to play hd game son a console the 360 was a better value. no way around sorry. Prices are prices. On live is great for people who have friends/family they want to easily play with online. That is what I meant by community. It is so easy to party up and play games regardless of what ever you are currently doing everything is a xbox button away. Ps3 may be there now, i do not know as do not own one yet.  I don't even think people are talking about pc's here any ways why bring it up? I also spent far more on my pc than on my xbox live so far.
