Forums - Nintendo Discussion - Which third party company is simply going to miss the Wii boat?

Ugh, I can't believe anyone is saying Dewey's adventure would be some smash hit anywhere. It's a quirky little title:

With a 67 metacritic aggregate. Trauma Center: NB we're still waiting to see the results of, but the original Trauma Center was and still is the best selling game in Atlus history. Let me repeat that again: Trauma Center for Wii is the best selling game Atlus has ever published.

Sonic for Wii sold considerably better than either the 360 or PS3 version:

Yeah, I bet Sega is really pissed that the spinoff (Sonic and the Secret Rings) sold almost twice as much as the "main" game on the PS3 and 360 combined (which was intended to revive sonic as a major character, yes?)

Mercury Meltdown revolution is a budget priced, 20 dollar game. Did absolutely fine. Rayman Raving Rabbids is a million selling franchise (and the sequel is still selling quite well -- we'll see where it ends up).

The only game on the list that Cryoakira has put together that legitimately sold worse than I would hope/expect is Zack and Wiki -- and despite that, Capcom looks to still be giving it a sequel:

Seriously, I have to put entire essays together to dispel all this bullplop. People just say whatever the heck they want to support their arguments, and hope that someone doesn't actually take the time to do all the paperwork and call them out on it. STOP.

What about Koei btw? I just stumbled about them when looking at the Japanese Charts. I don't know a lot about them... What are their big franchises? Are they supporting the Wii? I think nobody has mentioned them yet.

Currently Playing: Skies of Arcadia Legends (GC), Dragon Quest IV (DS)

Last Game beaten: The Rub Rabbits(DS)

Oh, and as one last note, please look here:

For the last four weeks -- a month straight -- the Wii has sold more software worldwide than either the 360 or PS3, usually by large margins (always by large margins, in the case of the PS3). There is clearly a boat here.  There is money to be made, and thus opportunities to be missed.

Tough call, because they make virtually nothing for America.

They have one big franchise: Dynasty Warriors. It's a Madden-esque, yearly rite that sells like gangbusters in Japan. Of course, this year Dynasty Warriors was put on the PS3/360, and sold about a 1/4th what the series had been selling on an annual basis for the last 3-4 years:

So it's possible they will.. reconsider their position, but if DW really IS like Madden, then it's a franchise that's just isn't entirely appropriate for the Wii, and it may be forced to stick with its situation. Put differently -- the series is a lot worse off on the PS3 than it was on the PS2, but it STILL might be a better situation than the Wii. We'll see, though.

I love Bodhesatva's efficient use of logic, facts, and links.

@nintendo_fanboy, Koei was one of my favorite NES-era developers, if only for Nobunaga's Ambition. I don't know how I got addicted to such a boring text-based historical strategy game at such a young age, but it's seriously amazing. Then I noticed all their games were clones, like Genghis Kahn, L'Empereur, and Bandit Kings of Ancient China (possibly the best). They pick a genre and stick to it.

Since gaming went 3-D, they've basically put out 10 versions of Dynasty Warriors per year. Totally boring (I can't stand 3rd person melee beat 'em ups), not my cup of tea, but they always sell amazingly. They'd do great on the Wii if they wanted to. They're just lazy and ornery. I don't know if they're up to anything else these days.

Favorite Companies: Nintendo, Blizzard, Valve.
Recent New Favorites: Grasshopper, Atlus. (R.I.P. Clover.)

Nemeses: Snesboy, fkusumot.

@Bod: I'd like to add to Sonic and the Secret Rings, that i have few times seen it being stated as the best 3D Sonic.

Well they also have the Romance of the Three Kingdoms games. Which were the most popular of those "boring text games". If you haven't checked em out lately they're all on PS2. 9 is the most like the traditional NES/SNES versions 8&10 are like the traditional versions except you play the part of one officer. 8 being better in my opinion. 11 is like a combination of the traditonal games but they got rid of the battle maps, to where it's just one big map... so it plays like a turn based real time strategy game almost. All of them are a lot of fun... though don't expect high graphics.

My favorite Koei strategy game was "Gemfire" though. Same thing as the other games, but more simple so i could get my friend interested... and the 5th units ruled. I do find it funny though that these games started on the NES and it took till the PS2 versions for them to change anything huge.

Oh crap I forgot about the Romances, most likely because I haven't played any of them. I really haven't kept up with Koei post-NES. Sounds rad though. I don't have a PS2, but maybe I'll pick it up for my friend to play at his place. He loved Nobunaga back in the day as well.
