I don't know how I got addicted to such a boring text-based historical strategy game at such a young age, but it's seriously amazing. Then I noticed all their games were clones, like Genghis Kahn, L'Empereur, and Bandit Kings of Ancient China (possibly the best). They pick a genre and stick to it. Since gaming went 3-D, they've basically put out 10 versions of Dynasty Warriors per year. Totally boring (I can't stand 3rd person melee beat 'em ups), not my cup of tea, but they always sell amazingly. They'd do great on the Wii if they wanted to. They're just lazy and ornery. I don't know if they're up to anything else these days. |
Well they also have the Romance of the Three Kingdoms games. Which were the most popular of those "boring text games". If you haven't checked em out lately they're all on PS2. 9 is the most like the traditional NES/SNES versions 8&10 are like the traditional versions except you play the part of one officer. 8 being better in my opinion. 11 is like a combination of the traditonal games but they got rid of the battle maps, to where it's just one big map... so it plays like a turn based real time strategy game almost. All of them are a lot of fun... though don't expect high graphics.
