Forums - Gaming - Activision axes Budcat Creations

http://www.eurogamer.net/articles/2010-11-16-activision-closes-guitar-hero-dev

Following news earlier today that Blur dev Bizarre Creations was facing down an uncertain future, Activision has axed another one of its acquisitions – Budcat Creations.

According to PC Gamer, staff at the Iowa City-based developer were handed their P45s this morning.

The studio was set up in 2001 by ex-EA Tiburon employees. Early titles included PSone ports of Madden NFL 2003 and Nascar Thunder 2003, franchises that it continued to work on untilActivision bought it in 2008.

Since then it's been in charge of porting all Guitar Hero titles to the PlayStation 2, up to and including last year's Band Hero, as well as masterminding the Wii version of Guitar Hero: Metallica.

So, apart from re-affirming the fact that it appears to be open season on Activision subsidiaries, this news would also suggest that the publisher is finally done supporting any Guitar Hero fans still slumming it on the PlayStation 2.

Seems Activision are clearing out their staff.

Well, now the one developer that I liked that worked for Activision is gone. Piss on them.

I wish Bungie the best of luck but I still think it was a bad idea going over there. Hopefully these studios get picked up by someone who cares.

Love the product, not the company. They love your money, not you.

yes i dont like how Budgie went to activison. Would of respected them if they went to Take Two Interactive

Anyways Activison is cutting all its dead weight and building new studios to pump out as many COD as possible over the next few years to juice as much as they can out of the name as possible. i bet there will be 12 cods an year in the future. One for each month. Each including an few new maps and an story that lasts 2 hours.

Of Course That's Just My Opinion, I Could Be Wrong

Poor Bizarre Creations, Blur was a decent game..

they are trying to sell the devlopers of blur because of a decline in the consumer interest in racing games? well as much as i love tony hawk  why the hell are the hawks game devlopers studio not being sold or layed off.

Hopefully MS or some one else picks them up because they are actually good developers

They aren't dead yet. But its too late for Budcat

I have to give Sony respect for the way they stand by their studios and not shutting them down if they're not "profitable enough".  Looking at Activision, EA, and Microsoft, and seeing how many great (or even decent) studios have been shuttered by them over the year is pretty depressing.

Misleading title.

I glanced over it and thought it was Bizzare Creations.
