Forums - Sony Discussion - IGN:The Fight: Lights Out Review (HORRID!!!)

There's a much better review of the game from The Sixth Axis here.

How both Video Gamer and IGN can both review a game and miss not only everything that the iWaggle fellah pointed out but also fail to mention that there's no lag (which after seeing demos from various conferences and shows this year has been a major concern for me), it's possible to play the game with one DS3 or Nav controller in one hand and one Move controller in the other and not to mention the splitscreen multiplayer and online multiplayer is inexcusable. A great deal of people reading those two woeful reviews wouldn't give the game a second glance if they thought that online multiplayer wasn't possible. Why not mention it..?!!? :Oo

Conspiracy theorists on the IGN forums are now rabbid that the reviews of all of the Move titles by IGN have been knobbled by part of Microsoft's $500m Kinect marketing campaign...Tumble was given a low score, same with Time Crisis and now The Fight Lights Out. Who knows...? lol

Wrong.
There are two calibration process. An initial one which is long, and a quick one you do before each match. Which is even quicker than the Sports Champions one. Only 2 steps instead of 3.

You'd think that blocking would be as simple as holding your dukes up towards your face. Unfortunately, you also have to hold the O button on your PS Move.

Wrong.
Circle button is for re-centering your arms to chest level in the case tracking goes ga-ga (kinda like re-centering the cursor in a shooter). If they have been pushing O for blocking they have been doing it wrong all the time, fucking up the tracking by themselves.

I always knew it was going to suck, but a reviewer on Neogaf has pointed out that the IGN review is actually flat out wrong about a few things. I posted a couple of his points. I'm not really into this whole motion control business (besides light gun games), but IGN and their sister site Gamespy, both seem to be extremely down on the Move. They make fun of it on their podcasts and then they make huge mistakes when reviewing a few games like Tumble. It might just be me, but the dudebro attitude of the site has been growing over the last year and I'm not liking it. They can give whatever score they want, but they should at least get their info right and come into the review without some predetermined dislike.

Bet with Conegamer and AussieGecko that the PS3 will have more exclusives in 2011 than the Wii or 360... or something.

Yup, same goes for the Video Gamer review too. The iWaggle fellah's review was much more in-depth and informative, as is the review by The Sixth Axis. On the strength of IWaggle's video and The Sixth Axis' review I'm now going to buy the game.

I seem to remember a while back that a publisher or developer asked one of the big gaming sites to review a game again as they got so many things wrong. Am I imagining that or did it really happen..? I can't remember what it was now for the life of me. :o/

Damn, how could they get it so wrong?  I guess I'll have to start taking IGN's reviews with a grain of salt from now on.

IGN track record aren't all shiny but it seems people are trying very hard to discredit it with another "review".

Why bother with reviews at all if you're going to pick and choose?

Well, they kinda discredit themselves by being wrong on 2 relatively big things, as well as no mentioning online multiplayer.
