I just finished Metroid: Other M. I expected to feel somewhat disappointed after playing it but I'm not disappointed at all! I'm seriously depressed. That's because I loved it.
The authorising part was annoying at first but later I didn't think about it much (It still is bad/lazy game design though, imho). But the rest. Oh boy. It's one of few cases where I've sunk completely into a game (or anything!). There's so much stuff going on inside my skull that I have a hard time staying 100% focused on something longer than 15 minutes. Other M made me do it! And I felt shocked when I had beaten the game. What, I'm done already!? I've played for ~5hours at the most. My total playtime was 10 and a half hour. Woot!? And it was like 6:30 in the morning. Oops.
Ok, enough about that.
So, why am I depressed? The game ended? No, that's not it. It's because I loved the story-heavy Metroid but I also love Metroid Prime. I want both.
I can't choose one over the other!
That's why I'd like Nintendo to have two dedicated Metroid teams. One (preferably Retro Studios) should make the Prime kind of Metroid. Another should make story-heavy Metroid. We (well, I
) need both! I'm not saying that one should be main and one should be spin-off, mind you. Think 2D Mario and 3D Mario!
Seeing how Other M divided the Metroid crowd (like Prime somewhat did before) this would be the best solution imho. Everyone gets their share of Metroid awsomeness!
Believe in coexistence!!!
Yay!(?)
