I didn't particularly like prime it captured the feel of metroid well, but still wasn't very enjoyable for me... I liked super metroid... though not to the extent of everyone here. I've always liked Castlevania more (Not the 3d ones...)
I haven't played other M. I might play it because the gameplay's by team ninja (I love Ninja Gaiden, And the Dead or Alive Series).But their stories/artstyle were pretty bad, and not even campy bad, but bad bad.
So maybe other M fixed that, or maybe it didn't as some people on this site say... I probably shouldn't have came in this thread until I play it :P
But hasn't Other M performed poorly? And is retro even going to want or be forced to go back to the metroid IP again. I'd prefer they create their own IP and see what comes of it. But that's a different topic
I think it might go in a different direction than other M or Prime. But that's not really a guess based on anything more than just a hunch
