Forums - Sony - I'm playing Final Fantasy 7 again.

For some reason, I’m playing it again.

I know everything that’s going to happen, so it’s not because I’m trying to find some secret I never got before. The combat system is very much old and dated, so it’s not because I find the combat to be still satisfying. The graphics are obviously unappealing to the eye, so it’s not because I like looking at the game. I finished the game a few months ago, so it isn’t a nostalgia trip.

So what is it? I guess I just like the characters and the world so much… I don’t know, playing it makes me feel like I’m part of their world. There’s no other game that can make me feel this. Why is it that the characters of this game are so much more endearing than any other game created?

On another note: I HATE so-called “RPGs” that have NO WORLD MAP.

Edit: I did play this game on the PSone about 12 years ago or something. Then I downloaded it on  my PS3, and played it again a few months ago. Then I I'm playing it again now.

You earn my (not so) covetted (sp) Hero of the day award.

PS One/2/p/3slim/Vita owner. I survived the Apocalyps3/Collaps3 and all I got was this lousy signature.

Xbox One: What are you doing Dave?

But wait...!

The only people who love Final Fantasy VII are the people who grew up with PS1 as the first console they had and never experienced the SNES FF Games! I know this is true because I've heard it on the Internet!

How can this be!?!? Explain yourself! Now!!

Seriously though, FFVII is awesome. Even if I feel it is the only Final Fantasy that actually needs a remake due to how it looks.

The characters are great. The music is great. The setting is great. The battle system is great. The sidequests are great. Chocobo breeding is great. Snowboarding is great. World maps are great. The spinoffs are great.

Final Fantasy VII is simply... Great!

I feel the same way for the characters/full game experience. It's a full story, that, if you're allowed time to fully dive into it, is the most proper experience of a video game you can feel. Love, hate, revenge, worldly apocalypse, its the full package, with side quests (and now full side games, sequels and prequels). Yeah it gets a lot of buzz, both people rooting for and against it. But, its a worthy game to be talked about, because games these days just don't come near in comparison to the emotions provided by this game.

All of this, of course, is just my opinion.

Skyrim 100%'d. Dark Souls 100%'d.
Dark Souls > Skyrim.
Halo 4 is the best damn FPS since Halo 3.
Proud pre-orderer of 2 PS4's and an Xbox One.

Currently Playing: Dark Souls II, South Park
Playstation 4: MGS V GZ, Killzone: Shadow Fall, NBA 2k14.

Yuffie is my favorite character ever with Yuna. But I loved Shinra, and I loved the fact that you are a terrorist :P

lol, i think there is much truth to be found in this, i hear many people saying FF6 is the best one theyve played, because they played it before the PSX came out.

And this is exactly the reason why people prefer FFX  over FFVII/VIII/IX, because they didnt play them when they came out, but only several years later, when the tech behind the game was outdated.

the curse of increasing graphics, huh? =)

(My personal favourite is VIII, i think.)

I'm a Foreigner, and as such, i am grateful for everyone pointing out any mistakes in my english posted above - only this way i'll be able to improve. thank you!

I definitely agree that you had to have played FFVII during the years it came out to truly appreciate what it was. I, having played ffXII as my first FF got FFVII hearing it was amazing, this game definitely is the only FF game that really needs a remake. The game has NOT aged well, the graphics are atrocious, it controls terribly, the battle system is ancient, and menus are cluttered, also there is not help in the game, i would never even have found Vincent if i didn't use a guide. I think the remake should come nice and late next gen. Square really need to put some better love and effort into a remake. Hopefully it turns out better than some of their latest fiascoes.

nice. good to know someone else also replayed FF7 more than 5 times :D  I know I did. it is because it is fun!

You're not alone. I downloaded it and started playing it on my PSP whilst commuting. I just love the cyberpunk world, the story and the characters.

I remember when I first played it and the first 3-4 hours in Midgar had me hooked. Then all the side-quests, the exploration, the little bits of hidden story you can find to fill in the gaps and the bosses just made for an all round quality gaming experience. I think this and FFVIII are the only 2 FF games where I actually did everything possible.

I've also oddly just started FFX again. Not sure why, I just have.

Now all I need is ff10 and ff10-2 HD remakes....
