Forums - Sales - Enslaved doing pretty good on both consoles.

To be honest, I think Ninja Theory shot themselves in the foot by going multiplatform. Sony has done an excellent job promoting their big exclusives this generation, and that includes Heavenly Sword. By deciding to go multiplatform, Ninja Theory lost that support, and with that, they lost a lot of gamer interest.

I would've been more interested in Enslaved if it was a PS3 exclusive, as sad as that sounds. With that said, it didn't help that they created a new IP when all I wanted was Heavenly Sword 2. Looking at Enslaved's videos, I don't see anything that would make me want to pick it up, other than the (once again) absolutely gorgeous vistas.

Regardless of my feelings, if Ninja Theory dies because of their poor business decisions (they shouldn't have lost money on Heavenly Sword, seriously), it will be a huge loss for the industry. These guys care about creating art, and sometimes I'd rather have art than testosterone-infused bullet storms.

Week three and Enslaved is out of the charts, Castlevania nearly gone too on 360 and not great opening numbers for Vanquish either. There are lots of games doing less than expected at the moment!

Well, I have finished Enslaved and it was an awesome game, from beginning to end.  As you say, the third week shows me that it will become an unknown gem.  I think that it gets to me for two reasons.  First, it makes me realize that my kind of games are NOT mainstream and will probably not get a sequel.  Second, character interactions, graphics and style are often overlooked for generic FPS.  I realize now that I am an old man in a world of young gamers.

Ha, it's not that you're an old man, you're just not one of the self proclaimed hardcore gamers. I remember picking up Little King's Story on the Wii, amazing game and very challenging. I loved it. The sad thing is the self proclaimed hardcore aren't interested in a game unless it fits their idea of being 'mature' - which usually invovles the game being a shooter. That's why games like MoH are medicore and really show very innovation or imagination but still sell very well.

Don't get me wrong, I enjoy shooters a lot, but I also love a wide range of games. The difference is I would rather play a great platform or puzzle game than a medicore shooter!

Yes, you make me feel somewhat younger!!!  And you are right again, I am not a hardcore gamer and I don't want to be one.  I mean, why so many average FPS on the market?  I have started playing Bioshock, and it is a phenomenal FPS.   But I understand, most shooters will get good sales because the mainstream crowd loves it and you can go online.  Again,I am not that kind of player.

I like to take my time.  After finishing Enslaved, I got into Bioshock and Fallout 3.  In both, I can take my sweet time, exploring and discovering sites that are amazing.  Super atmospheres in both games.

At the same time, Halo Reach is selling millions.  And Enslaved...my game of the year...Sigh!

I think people are being harsh on Castlevania sales, it's not a megaselling series and the genre it's in doesn't have many big sellers. All thing said and done it'll probably settle around just above a million. Hard to call but considering Bayonetta, Darksiders, Dantes Inferno etc all stopped around 1.4m it's not like Konami could have been gunning for 2 million sales. I hope lol. We'll see a sequel i reckon, mainly because it's still going to sell more then pretty much everything else Konami do outside of MGS.

Enslaved really has bombed though, Namco just didn't market the thing at all. No one knew what it was and it was launching against alot of established IP's, Ninja Theory have alot of talent but they need to make something more marketable then Enslaved was. I reckon DMC will do okay for them though.

Also with regards to Heavenly Sword, it sold the bulk of it's 1.3m sales at a slashed price in the bargain bucket, so not much money was really left by then to go back to Ninja Theory.

Actually they didn't make a single penny from that game

Some people called it bad managment, but nobody knows the truth about how much they spend to develop this game.

Ninja theory could be near 'folding out' because of Enslaved's bombing. The industry is very harsh.

Yeah, true, after the opening sales i thought Castlevania was going to bomb, but its holding up pretty well imo. and it could probabily do over 1mil lifetime.

dunno what went wrong with Enslaved, there were adverts on tv, web ads, newspapers, magazines, they released a demo. i thought it wouldve done a lot better really, dissappointing for such a great developer. but it could pick up, its getting very good word of mouth.

i think DMC could do very well, just not as well as Capcom want, which is 5 mil. however i've heard the unreal engine that NT are using is not the best for DMC, so we could have some problems with that as well.

I'm afraid that after 4 weeks on the market we can definitely declare Ensalved as the biggest console bomb of this year, maybe generation? And I say console bomb because the biggest bomb on gaming will always be All Points Bulletin released this year with a budget of $104.5 million.

Ouch!  And it keeps getting worse.
