The publishers use the NPD numbers to gauge market interests and market size. Like, do FPSs sell on the DS? Do platformers thrive on the XBox? That sort of thing.

I think they do, as their next shipments depend on it.

Namco-Bandai shipped 3 Million tekken 6 copies to Europe

Yeah, and selling 3 mill copies shipped is great, but when onl 1 mill actually sell to consumers, might make them think twice about bothering with DLC ect.

Yer exactly.

Not to mention that company will never be trusted by game retailers again....I don't think European retailers will fall for Namco Bandai's "projected sales" ever again.

I shudder to think how many copies of Tekken 6 are lying in warehouses

I know I said earlier that I assume Brett is above butting heads with NeoGAF in any way, and it's always better when people are above petty squabbling.

Brett did this a while ago. I forget what the issue was, but something rose up on GAF and a couple of members here on VGChartz offered up their accounts as a sacrifice so that Brett could explain his position. I thnk two or three NeoGAF accounts were banned on that day.

Actually, I still have mine (signed up, got in, and never used it...).
