Forums - Nintendo - Xenoblade - New field exploration video released

That's just freakin' amazing. This game will take hundreds of hours to complete. Seems they put the detail in the hugeness in the world, not in fancy textures !

It looks gorgeous! I can't remember the last time I've seen that varied a world map, either. It seems like they included many different sights to see and places to explore on the map itself to keep people from having to see the same view too often.

Hmm

I skipped through most of the vid in order to not spoil the game. This vid reminded me yet again why I want this game so much. If Nintendo don't localize this, I'm, I'm, I'm not going to buy a 3DS!!! (ok I'm bluffing but they don't know this)

Currently Playing: Shin Megami Tensei: Devil Survivor Overclocked, Professor Layton and the Curious Village

Anticipating: Xenoblade, The Last Story, Mario Kart 7, Rayman Origins, Zelda SS, Crush3D, Tales of the Abyss 3DS, MGS:Snake Eater 3DS, RE:Revelations, Time Travellers, Professor Layton vs. Ace Attorney, Luigi's Mansion 2, MH TriG, DQ Monsters, Heroes of Ruin

It's a very impressive video. I always just assumed it'd be released in the West at some point. That's not a sure thing?

Bah!

I'm very certain it will be, it's just due to some past history (e.g. Disaster Day of Crisis and some others) and lack of updates on the subect that people have doubts.

Yeah I remember Disaster Day of Crisis. I always wondered why we didn't get that one.

Bah!

I sincerly lost hope on this getting localized in the West. Well it may release in Europe, but I doubt NoA will localize this.

Since Nintendo bought Monolith Soft, none of their Nintendo published games have made it to the USA. Soma Bringer never made it over and neither did Disaster Day of Crisis.

NoA  doesn't seem to be keen of localizing such games. They haven't localized games like Zangeki No Reginleiv, Trace Memory R, Disaster: Day of Crisis, Fatal Frame 4, Captain Rainbow, Takt of Magic, Kensax, etc.

Niche or niche-core games don't have a chance here with NoA. NoE is more open to this kind of games, so it might have a chance of getting released there. Even when people bring up that Nintendo has registered Xenoblade in the US (albeit with the name Monado) those kinds of things happen all the time. Just remember that Disaster DoC was announced during E3 in the USA and even had American English voice overs, yet the game never saw the daylight here.

The Last Story might have bigger chances of getting localized, but I wouldn't be surprised if they passed up on that one too. Japan never misses on any games, go figure.

Bets with Conegamer:

Pandora's Tower will have an opening week of less than 37k in Japan. (Won!)
Pandora's Tower will sell less than 100k lifetime in Japan.
Stakes: 1 week of avatar control for each one.

Yeah but Disaster was shown before the Wii released. Seems logical to just show all the games it had coming, but in 2009 when this game was shown, not much point in showing the game during E3 time if it wasn't coming over. Plus this is a much bigger project than Disaster anyway...

What's the difference with Disaster and this one? Both shown at E3 (with Disaster being at the main conference if I'm not mistaken, while Monado was unveiled with a small clip hurs after the conference and online), both from Monolith. The logical conclusion is that this game won't be coming over.

Remember how you also told me that Zangeki was supposed to be coming over since it was a Motion Plus game with online multiplayer which is big for the West, yet it didn't ever come. Plus this game is much more Japanese oriented than Disaster, and chances are it stays there, and for that I fucking hate NoA.

Disaster was actually fully localized for US release, with several script revisions even.  The US release was ultimately canceled because NOA (and Reggie in particular) didn't feel it met high enough quality standards.  Which isn't really big loss, the game was mediocre.  Missing Soma Bringer was the worse oversight imo.

Xenoblade's actually the first game that started development after the Nintendo buyout.  Monolith started developing both Disaster and Soma Bringer back when they were part of Namco (presumably for Namco).

looks like what I  FF XIII should have looked like.. well FF XIII is beautiful and amazing, and open once you get to gran pulse, but this seems more open and less linear.. which is good

I would love a GOLDEN SUN on a console.. with visuals like that.. imagine exploring a world map with actual detail as if it were truely a real world.. just beautiful..
