Forums - Sony - Different between Move and Wii?

I am on a limited connection so I'm unable to view that video, but are you able to merely flick your wrists to play Table Tennis? Or what kind of swing is necessary?

Move has a shiny sphere!

Above: still the best game of the year.

What I don't get is why people want it to be perfectly 1:1 accurate. Does we play videogames to be as bad in them than in real life? When I play a tennis game, I want to be as good as Rafa Nadal or Roger Federer, I don't want to be as bad as I'm in real life. Being 1:1 isn't fun, because then 95% of the players here won't win a single point against a virtual Tsonga, or a virtual Nalbandian.

This is why I think 1:1 is a fallacy, and we want to be helped when we play games, because real life is much harder than videogames, and most of the time being real isn't as funny as winning.

This is true whether people want to admit it or not. There are some simple, mundane exercises you can do in 1-to-1 and have fun, but when things get more complicated, you're limiting yourself to your real physical abilities. Have fun playing God of War and Tiger Woods golf.

Quoted for truth.

It's like this:

Move has all the sensors that a Wii Remote with a WiiMotion addon has.

In practice, that makes Move already more accurate, because even of the brand new Wii releases hardly any game supports WiiMotion , simply because it's an optional addon that most Wii owners don't own, and requiring WiiMotion would reduce the number of potential customers for your game a lot. The gyroscope that makes WiiMotion more accurate is however included in every Move controller, so there's no reason for developers not to use it.

In addition to the sensors found in the Wii Remote and the WiiMotion , the Move furthermore has a magnetic field sensor builtin, which further improves the accuracy. So even the Move controller alone is more accurate than a Wii Remote/WiiMotion combination.

But Move of course furthermore has the glowing bulb and the Playstation Eye, which are used for calculating the exact 3D position of the controller in the room, which is something the Wii doesn't support at all.

What is Move?  I mean I kind of see your point, i.e. If PS3 games get motion control it's more likely to be good motion control,  but what is the current install base of Wii Motion Plus versus Move?

PS3 developers can fall back on the DS3 the same way Wii developers can choose to program just for the regular Wii control.  Given what's happened with Motion Plus support, I'm curious what's going to happen to Move support after the initial flurry of software.

What makes Move a different product is positional tracking. Then, its a bit more precise, stable and have HD.

You guys have all got it wrong!

The difference is in the games.

The Wii has games.

Thats the difference.

agree... and the move is 5 years too late !

That video of Start the Party.....I thought the apocalypse would come before a game like that would hit the PS3. I used to go to Blockbuster and Disc Replay and make fun of Wii games because for every Brawl, there were 10 games to the tune of The Biggest Loser or The Price is Right (for $40...the price is WRONG lol) or Cook or Be Cooked.....now "Start the Party" is for PS3. Ugh

4 years too late... you cannot release Move before the PS3 is released, can you?

Anyway what I should have said was:

"The Wii has lots of games"

Chances are that Move probably won't ever get a fleshed out library before the end of the generation which is coming up on us between 12 to 36 months away. If you're the same early adopter type who gets Move on day one you could just as easily get then first next generation console on day 1 as well.

Tease.
