Decent opening but largely very MEH.

But it does seem Move will sell enough hardware to receive development support from third parties which is great for Move owners.  I think as a whole Move will be successful but do very little in terms of challenging the Wii solely because of PS3's motion control.

I disagree..

my prediction stands as it is

name me ONE single reason why the Move would cause PS3 to outsell the Wii.  I'm not saying PS3 can't start outselling WIi but if it does it will be for reasons other than Move.

Why would an average consumer pay 200 more dollars to play motion controls on the PS3?  Even if they're more responsive?  Most mainstream consumers don't care and the Wii's success isn't just because of motion control its because Nintendo perfected how to target that demographic with software and advertising as well.

I think Move will be a great success BUT really does nothing in terms of taking sales away from the Wii.

because it's one reason not to get a wii, and one more reason to get a ps3 instead

think about it.. what's the consumer ganna pick this holiday season?

The machine that..

Does Blu ray

Has the biggest games of the holiday season (GT5, LBP2, COD BLACK OPS, ASSASSINS CREED BH, MOTION GAMES)

Does 3D (considering 3D TV is likely going to be a huge seller this holiday season, the PS3 will be one of the cheapest 3D BLU RAY MOVIE players, and is the only machine out there that will be able to play STEREOTIPIC 3D and have 3D games out already)

Does everything..?

really it's the best bang for your buck.. even if you look at the 320GB MOVE BUNDLE.. it's really the best option for any consumer looking for a gaming machine..

now will they know that? That's up to sony, but the "IT ONLY DOES EVERYTHING" adverts, are surely going to help

I'm pretty sure that people will choose the Wii over the PS3 regardless of Sonys advertising.

I'm sure the casuals will pick the gamecube over the ps2 regardless of sonys advertising

Lol... you really sound like a blind sony fan right now

Outsell the Wii? Never gonna happend. Sony is fighting for the second place (which is always a nice place to be), we'll have to wait and see how much market share can the Move steal from the Wii in the long run and if it can put them above MS.

Not good, but not bad either.  I think in terms of estimates it's probably on the low side of what Sony would have wanted, but like some have already said some of this is just day one numbers.

It's hard to get any real idea of what is good or bad at this point since I don't think Sony has actually said what they think good or bad is.

Not sure where to post this, but for anyone living in the midwest US, I just picked up some great deals at the "Mega Mart" (nebraska furniture mart) involving Move.

First off, you get a 20 dollar gift card for every Move you buy (including the bundle and individual controller, but not the sub controller).  So basically you can get the bundle for 75 (its 95 to start there) or one controller for 30.  (You could get the bundle, an extra controller, and the subcontroller for a combined $135.  Not too shabby).

They also have pretty much every game that uses Move on sale.  I just picked up Heavy Rain for $25 and RE5: GE for $25.  I also saw Tiger Woods 2011 for 30.

The sale on the games is for today and tomorrow only.  The Gift Card deal is all week.  Anyway, hope that helps someone out, I feel like I just made out like a bandit.  I picked this all up in Omaha, NE - but I think there are stores in Kansas City and Des Moines, too.

Owner of PS4 Pro, Xbox One, Switch, PS Vita, and 3DS

Not amazing but not bad either. I was expecting bad to decent sales, and it got the latter. Now I just hope Kinect doesn't crush it later this year...

so in america 1/250 bought the bundle and in europe 1/210 bought it. and you have to take into consideration that move was released friday not tuesday, so that augments the numbers a bit.  i think this will have a reverse parabola for sales.  once people who dont have it see it, they are going to want it.  im not a motion gamer myself, but with every add and game i see i come a little closer to buying it.

don't understand

Around 70,000 Starter Packs were sold last week in Europe along with a further 30,000 Move Controllers. Assuming a similar 25% of Move Controller purchases are for users with an existing camera, around 80,000 units of Move hardware were sold last week in Europe

70.000 starter packs means 70k moves plus 30.000 moves it makes 100.000 moves.

20k of the 30k are navigators?

The true test is what is what will it be selling six months from now?

Move (and Kinect) will need to build up large and growing audiences to get third-party support. A low-key launch like this does not do the trick.

I'm with Maynard.  That last remark didn't even make sense.... you would have had to reverse the order of the gamecbue and ps2 for it to even be relevant to the current situation.

70k Starterpacks
25% of those 30k moves sold to people who already owned a PS Eye (~7.500 units)
75% of those 30k moves are purchased as a secondary controller.

= ~80k unique move owners

Disappointing sales. It seems you guys are sugar-coating this with "it's day one sales" and "it will have legs". But still, 140,000k is very low for something that had so much hype behind it.
