If it weren't for that little incident in WWII, things might have been a little different for the Xbox/360.

i don't agree, japan likes other american products well enough.  i read on this forum before (i think from konichiwa (sp?)) that the x in xbox would be the english equvilent of naming it crap-box or piece-of-shit-box.  i don't pretend to know a whole lot about japanese culture but if other american companies can suceed (like apple) then i'm pretty sure a lot of the blame for their low sales rests on microsoft itself.

People in Japan have given it such names.  It really just means "Wrong Box."  "X" means "batsu" which means incorrect.

360 is doing better than the original xbox.  But, I'm sure its still costing MS to be in Japan - and cutting from their overall profit or increasing the loss.  The retailers probably still require a big cut from MS to keep the shelf space, demo kiosks, etc. when the product is not selling that well.

"Naturally the common people don't want war: Neither in Russia, nor in England, nor for that matter in Germany. That is understood. But, after all, IT IS THE LEADERS of the country who determine the policy and it is always a simple matter to drag the people along, whether it is a democracy, or a fascist dictatorship, or a parliament, or a communist dictatorship. Voice or no voice, the people can always be brought to the bidding of the leaders. That is easy. All you have to do is TELL THEM THEY ARE BEING ATTACKED, and denounce the peacemakers for lack of patriotism and exposing the country to danger. IT WORKS THE SAME IN ANY COUNTRY."  --Hermann Goering, leading Nazi party member, at the Nuremberg War Crime Trials

Conservatives:  Pushing for a small enough government to be a guest in your living room, or even better - your uterus.

wouldn't saying it's dead imply it at one point had life? fail.

Thank you, I laughed! I'd have to agree on this one, nothing has been standing still this badly since Stephen Hawking got a dead battery in his wheelchair.

360's distant third in Japan is a lock.
