Forums - Sony Discussion - Attention PS3 Owners: Go Buy More Games!

hasanwhy said:

Are you sick of going to gamrReview and seeing numbers like these:

Bioshock (360) - 2.58 mil

Bioshock (PS3) - .63 mil

Or these?

Dragon Age (360) - 1.68 mil

Dragon Age (PS3) - .92 mil

Just a little confused as to why the sales of most multi-platform games on the PS3 are less than their 360 counterparts. Shouldn't the sales be more identical? Or is it that PS3-owners comprise of a more diverse audience with a different gaming palette? (did I use the word palette correctly in that sentence? lol)

Thoughts/Opinions?

BioShock - obvious one. This was a late port, selling for full price.

Dragon Age - I would put this down to the genre. Many WRPGs have been released on 360, and not very many on PS3, not to mention the fact that "BioWare" = "Mass Effect developer" to a 360 owner, but "who?" to a PS3 owner.

Wasn't DaO developed with PS3 as main console version, and X360 as a port?

You cite two games that are very popular in the American Market where the 360 has almost double the user base of the ps3, plus bioshock is a late port.   I think the ps3 does very well in selling games, why don't you look at multi plat games like final fantasy XIII or devil may cry?

Because they are Playstation legacy games and are also an unfair comparison.

In conclusion; both comparisons are equally unfair, so what's the point of this thread again?

If we look at overall software sales since 2009 both console are about even.

I misread the title as "buy move games" then I saw the number for Bioshock and Dragon Age I was really confused for a second.

So it tricked me good.

Bioshock is a late port. Dragon Age is a western RPG so of course 360 will beat it out.

Don't tell me what to do. I've done my part quite well on 1st party games side. 2 of which I bought TWICE!

Sorry for the random example guys. I would've chosen better examples, but I thought that Bioshock's PS3 sales comparison to 360 would've made the most sense. Unfortunately for me, I COMPLETELY forgot about its history....-_-

57 games and counting... seems plenty!

Americas and EU 360 sells more those type of games... Bioshock etc... But Figthers , Racing and JRpg´s Ps3 sells them better... 2 Different Consoles , 2 different kind of players... 360 fans are more guys who like shooters and multiplayer , Ps3 fans also like shooters but there´s alot more playing Tekken´s , NFS or Final Fantasy´s... Like there´s more playing MW2 , BF , MoH and so on the 360.

Look at the markets they target and there's your answer.

And its good to see PS3 owners didn't buy much of Dragon Age (hehehehehe).

But those Oblivion numbers should be like 3 TIMES the amount they are!! (PS3 ones)
