I finally listened to the audio, so I wouldn't jump to conclusions. My conclusion is......This bitch is crazy. I've never heard of her before this happened, but the advice she gave (if you could call it that) to the caller who seemed to be a regular listener was ridiculous. Maybe she was just having a bad day or she was just fed up with black people complaining about racism, but since she's getting paid to do the show, she should've replied in a more professional manner.Being that she gets paid by Networks to broadcast her show and distribute the show on their stations, she should've known that she couldn't speak as freely as she wanted. She was basically direspecting the people that give her money, and that's bad universally.

I use Nigga ALL the time and I doubt I'm gonna stop anytime soon and I have that right, just like a person of any other race has the right to say it. The difference is the reaction other people will have towards you depending on who you are. There are probably thousands of non-black people in America saying Nigger right now and they have that right as long as they're willing to deal with the consequences of who they refer to as a Nigger.

Quick Statements: I believe Honky and Cracker is not frowned upon as much as Nigger since they can have many etymologies with some noting them as a practical description of the time and Nigger only has one (As far as I know). Also, Nigger is not the same as Nigga as they are phonetically different and Nigga is the derivative. Thats like saying negro is the same as Nigger.

wat am turuning? where did i ever condone the word... its I AM  NOT condoning it just acceptin of the fact that it exist within black culture and chances of it ever leaving is pretty slim. Yes its double standard, again the N bomb is a racial slur in however and whoever says it.

my answer would be "try and change it" but at can be done about?  black ppl decide to use the world, what can you do especially sinces its promoted in nearly every medium available... terrible or not Nigga is part of black culture and has been deeply rooted for decades... in the end excepting is the answer.

Dr. laura's comments we're not only not offensive she has little to no reason to apologize for them.  If anything she should be congratulated for trying to discuss a topic that black america has done such horrible job of discussing. 

Her point of selective offensivness is one that needs to be discussed.  Unfortunatly most african american leaders have no interest in discussing these issues because they live off of the desparity and subjecation of their fellow black men.

I don't think the word "nigger" is worse than any other derogatory term for any other race.  There are epthets for the French, Native Americans, Mexicans, Itallians, people with freckles, and pretty much any other race you can think of.  You just shouldn't use them.

At the same time, most races (not just black people) have taken their "N-Word" and embraced it.  How many white people are proud to call themselves "Red Necks"?  How many Itallians are proud to call themselves "Guidos"?  How many freckled people are proud to call themselves "Freckers"?  It's not the word.  It's the connotation.  I know black people who'd get offended if a white guy came up to them and called them "Tyrone".  Tyrone isn't a bad word.  It's just the implication that comes along with it that he finds offensive.

In my experience, white people are more likely to accept racially insulting stereotypes.  I don't know if they just have a better sense of humor than other races or if being white really IS that awesome.  Lots of people I know will volounteer "Oh, I'm white.  You know I can't dance." or something like that.  Good for them.  At the same time, some of my favorite movies (Like Goodfellas or Kill Bill) use the word nigger.  Doesn't offend me at all.  People just need to stop being so damned sensitive.  If there's no hate behind the word when it's being used, then what's the harm?   There's too many other things in the world for me to be offended by.  I'd rather hear a person say what they really think and KNOW that they don't like me for some preconceived (and probably wrong) notion instead of having them smile in my face and surprise me at the last second.

Now, if you'll excuse me, I have some fried chicken to get to!

Great example on the other racially slurs turned positive by the race it's used against. I was going to touch on that, but my post was too long.

I'd also like to add that Race jokes are hilarious.

I'm less upset by Dr. Laura's use of the word (I thought it was tasteless but not insulting or her being derogative) than her suggestion that the woman's husband's friends calling her a n-igger was ok and that she should get over it.
