Forums - General - Square Enix CEO Yoichi Wada discusses console war

"they got an idiot CEO"

"Big loss of respect here"

Simply because he said some people are buying the Wii as a toy? Get a life...

Everything he says makes perfect sense. He's saying a lot of people are only using the Wii as a toy because they aren't buying more games for it. They're perhaps only using it for social events and aren't interested in buying anything beyond Wii sports. (As is the case with two of my friends).

The 360 on the other hand is drawing the hardcore crowd. Who buy games by the bucket load.

He isn't too sure where Sony stand.

If you want to argue over his choice word of 'toy' so be it, but it's quite clear what the man is trying to say.

Nice one. Please explain to me what you use the xbox for bsides playing games? doenst playing games make it a toy?

I think we are all missing the point. He clearly thinks the 360 is fucking awesome and is bring Final Fantasy 13 to the console.

Yes, that is the short answer of his message.

Dallinor, I think I'll answer this one =]

What he is talking about is that he is comparing the Wii to a single use toy. No one is buying other games and sticking with Wii Sports making it so that it is a one trick pony like most toys. Yes there are other uses to say a Basketball but a basketball is still only a backetball ment to play basketball.

What he means when he looks at the 360 is that owners buys a ton of games so its not basically only used for 1 purpose or game. What he means for the PS3 is that people are used more PS3s for Blu-ray players then gaming machines but owners are also using the gaming function and its unknown how many owners are buying games but its not at the point of the PSP at all.

He said "most" buy the Wii as a toy. Being that the Wii owners on this forum don't make up the "most" you can't really argue.

edit: ssj12 thank you for clearing that up. The problem is they still won't understand if they refuse to.

Love the product, not the company. They love your money, not you.

Yoichi Wada is full of crap. If that is what he truly believes then why has Square Enix continued to give the 360 the shaft. SE has more games in production for Wii than the 360. The PS3's attach rate isn't exactly stellar either. It's actually lower than the Wii's. Yet the PS3 has more software in planning from Square Enix than the 360. If he really believes what he is saying how come his companies actions are the "antithesis" of his own words.

Not really ... you can play games , listen to music , watch movies , brows the internet and do many more with the PS3 ... its not a toy , its an entertainment sistem :)
