Forums - Nintendo - Another Analyst Suggests Wii 1.5 On the Way

And Kinect does more than the PS Eye?  So far, I find no differnce in the gaming capabilites of the 2.  And the style of the camera is irrelevant.  They could have designe the shell to look like anythign they wanted.  Ubisoft simply made it look like a basic web cam.  Which, by the way, is all the RGB camera in Kinect is.  It's a standard low resolution, low refresh rate web camera.

And yes, I am 100% positive they turned down the technology prior to it being offered to MS.  Sony also turned it down.

PS Eye just had games where you stared at your self and flailed at objects. It wasn't capable of much of anything just like the Wii camera. The Eyetoy never had a game that transferred your exact movement to a 3D model. Every game in Kinect's library demonstrates capabilities the Eyetoy is incapable of doing.

Maybe you should do a little more research and see how the Kinect and Eyetoy differ technically. Take a good look at everything that's actually in the Kinect. It just can't be emulated on a simple webcam. It would have been done already.

By the way, Nintendo said they turned it down because they didn't believe it could be sold to the mass market. MS on the other hand spent years with it, improved it, and now its going to be a very popular device. It'll likely be used beyond the 360 as well. Hence, this is what Nintendo could have done and with their audience and marking it could have been bigger.

Go look up Kung-Fu Live for PSN and get back to me.  If you're going to patronize somebody, make damn sure you're correct first.

Kung Fu Live is another game that involves you staring at yourself flailing at objects. The only thing unique about is it gets an outline of your body and understands some gestures.

After all these years that's the best they have to offer? Its still light years behind any Kinect game.

Built-in MotionPlus or bigger internal memory sounds reasonable, but ouldn't warrant calling it a Wii 1.5.

It would have to be a big addition like Kinect (adding a whole new control scheme), but I doubt Nintendo would do anything like that so long into the life span of a console. (They probably learned their lesson over 20 years ago with the Famicom Disk System.)

I'm no analyst, but I'm pretty sure there won't be a major harware revision. With high probability the next release will be a completely new console.

I don't see a need to. Everyone's talking about the wii decline but it isn't  a shit ton to brand a new console.Maybe a revision with high definition

Kinect also has a IR cam, which makes all the difference. And to be honest even if sony and nintendo turned the tech down it does not mean MS can't make it great. Sony and nintendo did not have the research to bring everything together for kinect. Microsoft is still the biggest, and probably one of the best software companies out there, and kinect is about the software behind it. It is about having the might of ms research behind its voice and facial recognition, and to the new part the IR camera which allows it to better track depth than the eye toy. Sony and Nintendo I do not think could get it to work like microsoft could.

Kung-Fu Live is using the video recording of what the player is doing and overlaying it over pre-rendered animations in the game on a 2D plane. If you seriously think this is comparable to what kinect does then you are sadly mistaken. There is no skeletal tracking in this game.

So how about you make damn sure you are correct. The EyeToy is not comparable to Kinect.

If a Wii 1.5 or HD is released I don't know if I would buy one.  I already have own a Xbox 360 and PS3 for my HD needs.  Why would I need another Wii that has HD included?  I guess Mario Kart in HD would be nice but I don't need it.
