Forums - Sales - I just realized that Nintendo will stay in first place for a long time

"People don't see videogames as art, they rather see videogames as a form of entertainment. And that's because that's what videogames are about.

Videogames are not art."

Books and movies are equally forms of entertainment.

You don't read a book or movie for competitive play.

You assume to much Rol.

Every gen is different anything can happen, wouldn't surprise me if the 3DS bombed and another handheld came and stole the handheld crown from Nintendo.

And I highly doubt Sony is going to do the same this this gen for next gen, as we all seen the first couple years of the PS3 was not the best launch for a video game console. Sony will likely go back to there roots like they did with the PSOne and PS2, come out with something affordable at launch with some cool new features and awesome games.

Microsoft is taking a complete different leap with Kinect, who knows maybe that'll be a hit and the X720 will be based completely off that.

Like I said every gen is different, anything can happen and you can't predict nothing.

"Anything can happen" has only been demonstrated to be true after the market leader makes a significant mistake that gives their competition the opportunity to replace them. If the PS3 launched at $300 in 2005, regardless of what the hardware or user interface was, the PS3 would probably be the market leading console.

You say video games are not art because they are entertainment. I say that the two are in no way mutually exclusive, and give examples.

Comprehension, my friend.

When you factor in the mindless action-movie clones, simulator games, racing games, sports games, and simple arcade games only a very small portion of videogames actually attempt any sort of artistic expression; and the vast majority of those games fail to achieve anything of any artistic significance. With that in mind, sales of games that attempt (or achieve) artistic expression seem to do significantly worse that games that avoid it, so it is fair to say that few gamers actually care about games as art.

I've never played the game but after watching the trailer and becoming even more confused I decided to watch an actual gameplay video.

It's Wii Sports Resort's Airsports but you fly as a flower instead of a plane. You've confused me even more now. How is flower art but Airsports isn't? One has a pretty field the other has a pretty island.

Just looks like Sony copying as usual.

"The wii did go back to nintendos roots.  Games easy to pick up but with a degree of difficulty."

Wii Sports has a "degree of difficulty"? Wii Fit does? Wii Play? Because those are the Wii's killer apps, not games like Super Mario Galaxy or Twilight Princess.

Yes NSMB wii is harder than any FPS clone on the hd twins.  It has a degree of difficulty as does galaxy.

O.O

Super Mario Galaxy is the easiest Mario game I've played and NSMBWii is, overall, rather easy.

It's not like you've played all "FPS clone on the hd twins" anyways lol

it is a difficult game

So is Kill Zone 2 (Especially so on harder difficulties).  And NSMB isn't nearly as hard as you are portraying.

yes, that is what i'm sayin

That explains it all.

well I did beat NSMB Wii so I am just being modest.

FPS are easier than NSMB i'v played KZ2 not that hard sorry

No they are not exclusives. But videogames are not consider to be art. They are just videogames.

Videogames are just there to entertain. They are in no way a form of art. And people don't see videogames as art.
