When you factor in the mindless action-movie clones, simulator games, racing games, sports games, and simple arcade games only a very small portion of videogames actually attempt any sort of artistic expression; and the vast majority of those games fail to achieve anything of any artistic significance. With that in mind, sales of games that attempt (or achieve) artistic expression seem to do significantly worse that games that avoid it, so it is fair to say that few gamers actually care about games as art.
