baffled how people still claim that KZ2 controls were realistic

KZ2 controls where just pure awesome. It took just two hours or less to get use to them and I don't know why people hate the controls. It was always a challenge when trying to get a headshot and that made the multiplayer worth while.

i dunno, i'm still excited about kz3 but the heavy, distinct style of kz2's controls is a large part of why i liked it better than any other shooter on the market.  i feel like kz3 is in danger of not being as fun of a game but maybe that's just me.

Pretty much this.

The wieghted controlls, for better or worse, gave Killzone 2 it's identity in an oversaturated FPS market.  Something that is REALLY hard to come by.   It's almost like Sony's First and Second parties are feeling overly insecure about their products and have made unnecessary changes to their games.  (SEE inFamous 2 and Killzone 3)  I dunno if these are bad changes, but I do deem them unecessary IMO.

Check us out at the Vindication Gamer Network on Youtube.

From all the previews I've read, it's hardly run n' gun.  It's moreso a mix of the best of both worlds that happens to open the game up more to run n' gun players.  Check out Sam Bishop's impressions, for example:

For starters, the controls this time around are far more responsive in every way. Turning, firing, all of it has been made far closer to what one would expect from a modern shooter, and has done much to quell the complaints we had about the game the last time out. We'll have to fire up our post-patch copy of Killzone 2 to compare things, but suffice it to say there's still a sense of weight to everything. Sev doesn't sprint across an ice field with the agility of gazelle, he plods, with heavy footsteps that crunch into the hardpack beneath him.

It still aims for that heavier, more realistic feel.  It's just the actual aiming is somewhat more responsive, without the slight lag found in KZ2.

I in general love the weighted controls, and enjoyed the feel they gave to your character, but they did have their issues. The slight lag had me often passing up targets with the reticule, and it made little sense that you were just as sluggish in turning with the revolver as with the rocket launcher.

From the way it sounds, they're keeping most of that, while simply making the actual aiming somewhat more responsive.  From other previews I've read, the acceleration while aiming, for example, is still there.

He also said on neogaf it plays much smoother in general, thanks to the framerate never dropping below 30 and often getting as high as 60.  They're really optimizing the engine thanks to 3D, and it should lead to a much better singleplayer experience this time around (as well as probably offline co-op).
