Forums - Nintendo - Will 3DS beat DS in sales?

3DS is disruptive while DS was not, it'll outsell the DS

definitely not.

I disagree, the DS wasn't a disruptive product, the 3DS is attacking the 3D market, especially the 3D glasses market, so it has the potential to sell far more than the DS

Way too early to say for sure, but my gut tells me that no, no it will not. It's unreasonable to expect success on level with the best-selling dedicated gaming hardware of all time.

By the logic applyied in this thread would PS3 be sitting at 200 mil sold right now.. So guess we might be surprised.

Nintendo had one successful gen after 2 shitty ones yet everything they touch is golden now, well let's see how they'll do without the blue ocean.

MY HYPE LIST: 1) Gran Turismo 5; 2) Civilization V; 3) Starcraft II; 4) The Last Guardian; 5) Metal Gear Solid: Rising

Definately. It looks like they will control the casual and hardcore audiences. Then again, we still do not know about sony's handheld yet(if there is one)

I believe that one day, the 3DS will be the highest selling videogame console of all time. From the evidence I have available, this is the only possible conclusion I could come to. :P

I don't need your console war.
It feeds the rich while it buries the poor.
You're power hungry, spinnin' stories, and bein' graphics whores.
I don't need your console war.

NO NO, NO NO NO.

3DS will have disruption, which is even more dangerous for its competitors than Blue ocean

no

“When we make some new announcement and if there is no positive initial reaction from the market, I try to think of it as a good sign because that can be interpreted as people reacting to something groundbreaking. ...if the employees were always minding themselves to do whatever the market is requiring at any moment, and if they were always focusing on something we can sell right now for the short term, it would be very limiting. We are trying to think outside the box.” - Satoru Iwata - This is why corporate multinationals will never truly understand, or risk doing, what Nintendo does.

Actually, they have yet to "lose" in the handheld space. It's never even been close.

How is the 3DS anything like the PS3, anyway? It's looking more like the PS2 than anything, and we all see how that turned out.

Of Course!
