Gran Turismo 5 will do the same and a potential 10 Million seller WILL sell lots of systems.

TBH at this stage, while i'm not ruling out GT5 could be as popular as one of it's predecessors, that does not rule out the possibility that sequels to franchises that are just as popular (especially, recently)will still do better.

God of war 3 (and FFXIII) did very little to sell Playstation 3's in March despite 3 years worth of PS2 people wanting to hop on the current gen bandwagon for these "next gen debuts", but the sequel to Modern Warfare did sell hardware and it was even more popular. So if anything, with current evidence, we should be more inclined to believe that poplular franchises sell systems and popular franchises get ever more popular.

Reply to my bet challenge int he other GT5 vs Halo Reach thread.

Can't you just reiterate it here?

You have to keep in mind that God of War 3 is no where as big as Gran Turismo, and that FFXIII sales was split between two platforms(Ps3 having the upper hand).

Also, it's not like Sony is not going to advertise GT5...It's their biggest franchise releasing here, so you have to think about how robust Sony's advertising is going to be for GT5.

No other racing games of GT5's caliber are releasing during that time of the year, whereas Halo Reach may have some pretty tough competitors releasing during the Holiday season...( CoD Black Ops and Medal of Honor being the biggest ones I can think of).

Don't want to get into any argument, but you have to think about it...

i'm no longer surprised by the crap MS says anymore.

I like Don Mattrick, I thought he was pretty cool in that interview.  Even though I would probably prefer the Playstation Move and thought MS conference was bad.  I'm thinking for some reason that Kinect is going to resonate more with the consumers.  Also, if that dance game gets alot of positive word of mouth.  That thing could really take off in a BIG way.  So, my bet is on Microsoft this year.  Sony just seems too expensive, but we'll see.

Wow some of the comments made in here are just outrageous.

Worst E3 ever for MS, for core gaming, very mediocre and eventless E3 for Sony as well, best E3 every for any company, for Nintendo, so it's no mystery who "won" the real question is, who "lost?"

That would be Microsoft. They should have sold me a little on the redesign. I don't see why I should buy it.

I don't see why you should buy it either.

Yeah, I don't see why anyone should. My point is, they didn't SELL it. They needed to, I dunno, give me a reason why this console is different from the regular Xbox outside of looks.

Let's be honest. Xbox 360 owners kinda want to upgrade. At least I do. However, it seems like this "redesign" is just the regular Xbox in a near identical case. Again, wifi and Hard-Drives aside, that thing needs to be sold to me, and not just be announced, before I care enough to buy it.

...and you know me. I've pretty much been accused, and VOTED in the top 10 Microsoft fanboys AND 10 ten Nintendo fanboys on this site.

Don't get me wrong either. The PS3's conference was also utter shit. People are kidding themselves pretending that casual games, and a completely KNOWN lineup of relatively minor core games, another E3 with a GT5 trailer, and a stand up comedian is anything but boring redundant PR bullshit. The capper was a the new twisted metal game(LEAKED by Pachter), which had graphics far too mediocre to appeal to its target audience. Also, the PSP is aweful, and dying, if E3 is any indication. I laughed during the PSP section of the show for all the wrong reasons. I think that it was terrible.

However, it managed to be significantly better than the MS press conference for several reasons. MS's conference had all the things that were wrong with the PS3 conference, which were compounded by the utter insistance of the company to embarass me with terrible motion control casual games that no one will ever buy. To top it all off the big "megaton" of the shitty redesign was LEAKED a day earlier, and I found out way more information from that damn leaked ad, then they decided to give us during the actual unveiling, so EXCUSE me if I'm a little pissed off after that poorly thought out joke of a press conference.

Im not following the concept of not being impressed by a the Xbox 360 remodel due to the fact it was leaked a mere day before. The people on Vgchartz and elsewhere are silly, they are like kids who hunt the house looking for presents and unwrapping them for Christmas and then acting all pissy because there aren't any surprises... In any case theres no reason why you should buy the redesign unless you really want to. Theres nothing forcing you and it was never their objective to get everyone who has an Xbox 360 to buy a new one for no reason.

I disagree with some of your reasoning on the Sony E3. In my mind they were pre-owned by Nintendo before they even walked in the door. Had they not come last it wouldn't have seemed as bad handing out 3D glasses to journalists who had just been wowed by the 3DS and they wouldn't have been as bad talking about the PSP which just had its grave dug. They talked about some good games however it was weaker than last year and they spoke a hell of a lot more shit than they needed to for longer than they should have.

Microsofts press conferrence wasn't terrible by any means. You live in America, do you not watch sports? ESPN is probably even bigger than Netflix for the Xbox 360. They gave a name and release date to Kinect and unveiled the Xbox 360 refresh which gives people everything they have been wanting for the last 5 years in a quiet, energy efficient and smaller design. They showed off a few new games like Forza and Cryteks teaser whilst introducing 3 pretty cool Kinect apps. The Dance, Fitness and Kinectimals applications were all very good and showed off the abilities of the interface to do things the other consoles could not and they were confident enough in their voice recognition to do it in front of a noisy room of cynical journalists.

The Core games are coming! They can't present everything at E3 and leave nothing for Gamescom in August. So they intend to announce the final price and core games at a later date because they wanted to get word out on their key mass market titles earlier in the year. The fact that they left Fable 3 off the menu at E3 has to tell you something becuase its their best known game which is going to utilise the Kinect interface. The fact that you didn't like the games they showed doesn't make them bad games or mean that they had a bad E3.

Tease.

On which side? I agree some are really bad, I actually came in this thread and walked right on out....but I wanted to increase my posting on this site, so I came back! :P

I think some of the comments favoring 360 are pretty outlandish, but the other side isn't perfect either.

They won E3, AHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHHAHA.

Idiots.

With Socom 4, LBP2, and GT5 coming out this holiday season, I doubt it will be a tough holiday season for Sony, GT5 will probably do what Halo: Reach will do for MS

I liked to see what MS will have for 2011, looks like another 2009 imo

Nintendo won E3. At least he's positive though. If someone is always positive, they can surely do it this hoilday to beat Move.

With GT5, Sony could be looking at it's best Holiday for a single title in November/December.
