Its a fact that a prequel never sells as well as a sequel. Look at DMC sales. And MGS 3 had absolutely nothing to do with MGS storyline. The game was actually a prequel to Metal Gears 1 and 2 on the MSX.

Right, DMC2 being a disappointment and there being plenty of other good fighters on the market definitely didn't have an impact on DMC3...

The fact is MGS2 disappointed and alienated a lot of the people who enjoyed MGS1. With the series increasingly incomprehensibly story line, and the fact that there were plenty of other stealth actions games, its naive to say that MGS3 sold poorly just because it was a prequel.

I don't see it being hard for this game to reach 1mil on the first day, they are talking about sold to stores, not to you or me. With a WW release, it should sell a nice chunk of that 1mil.
