Forums - Sony Discussion - PS EYE can do what NATAL can:

Not sure if anyone has pointed this out yet, and I am not really going to read the whole thread to find out, but I see no use of the Z axis(as in depth) in this game. All X and Y. So no, it isn't doing what Natal is doing.

PS Eye/Move is far more superior. http://www.thesixthaxis.com/2010/05/17/natal-guesses-players-movement/ Also PS Eye doesn't require Move to work, Move requires PS Eye to work. PS Eye/Move has way more possibilities for games. Also Sony, along with Nintendo, were also offered the technology but didn't take it because of their production cost.

The PS eye does NOT do 3D gaming well at all, watch some of the videos...they look more laggy than Natals tech demo...not good. BTW, look at the addy of the link you posted, Biased and ignorant fanboys, the whole lot of them. Natal uses software to track the bodies motion, it doesn't just "guess" where the body is.

Lag is due to processing time. Natal uses IR light while the PS eye uses visual light to track. You know about those 28 (?) points on body natal suppose to track. Well those points are not detected by the camera itself. The  software (Cpu) has to add those points on each IR frame. To save time (reduce lag) Natal will probably have to guess some if not  many of those points. This is the advantage of have something to track that is visible on camera. It requires less processing time.

The difference of the prices speaks for itself. Sony knows how to make a good quality accessories for cheap. Also, yes it does guess your movements.

So then Natal definitely guesses where the points are based on your opinion...nice to know. Obviously the camera does not track those points, it couldn't do that without the software, no camera can. but the software is still in development, on both Natal and Move, Move just appears to be further along. The eyetoy games on the other hand...no wonder it never really took off.

@strength, PSEye =/= Natal. your point is moot.

one thought, if i downloaded a video of somebody doing a level from youtube and played it back opposite this camera on say a projector will the camera respond by completing said level by itself?
