It does 3D. Which is new. Not been done before. Ever ever ever. We should be excited for it now Nintendo are showing us the way.

Wrong, Virtual Boy did that.

So has a lot of other different stuff.

My point was. All we know about it really is that it will do 3D of some kind.

Which i don't think is anything to be excited to be about yet.

It would be like getting overly excited for the PS Move before it, or any of it's games were shown, IMO.

I believe with the Nintendo 3DS we will all be able to step into virtual reality and the world will instantly go mental with purple albatrosses flying above our head and cartwheeling elephants parading all around us.

Didn't you get the memo yet it's a totally new generation handheld.

yeah but How?

i remember Game Boy Micro , DSi , PSPGo , IPhone 3G , Ipad all being called "The next generation" by their PR.

are you saying that people are blindly going to go for PR talk?

The Micro and the DSi were never touted as anything but new iterations of current hardware. That's not what the 3DS is.

You realize the 3DS is just a codename, right? THat's not the name of the platform. It's not necessarily going to have the DS moniker at all.

so how are you guys going to assume that its going to be huge if you don't even know the name of the thing?

atleast we should see some games, or something

I have a question? since I do not know that much about the 3DS, is it going to have touchscreen and 3D, 2 screens or what...

I have no doubt that there will be awesome games on, as the DS had.

I think them codenaming the 3DS the 3DS is confusing because it's almost implying it's the DS in 3D atleast that was my take. Kinda like GB, and GBC it was the game boy in color... because if I remember they've called things unrelated, like dolphin and such.

Everyone wants to see for themselves if/how the 3D really works

Been away for a bit, but sneaking back in.

Gaming on: PS4, PC, 3DS. Got a Switch! Mainly to play Smash

Look, the concept is extremely exciting, 3D gaming on a console without the need of glasses and can be taken anywhere.

That's not even remotely interesting?

And Nintendo is rarely known to lack in quality.

Look I'm going to make this really simple for you: 3DS is to DS, what DS was to GBA, capish??

and how do you know that?

can you please make an honest answer isn't of the "yourz dumb so i'll just end diz thread" comments.

i expected the silly "/thread" comments ,thats why i said "Honestly"
can you give a better reason?

I think what they're too lazy to say is that the last two major hardware releases from Nintendo have used some radical new ideas in how to build game hardware, and the results have been incredible new ideas in game design and faster unit sales than handheld or household console have ever seen before.

Nintendo now has a track record on this, so many people are expecting Nintendo to go three for three on radical new hardware designs. In the terms of your thread title, people are thinking that the 3DS will recreate the big bang because Nintendo has already done it twice in the past decade.

Nothing's set in stone, of course. Personally, I'm not sure if another revolutionary gaming idea has ripened enough for Nintendo to exploit it. But there is a track record, so expectations are high.

First of all, you're confusing curiosity with excitement - I'm more curious about the hardware han I am excited.

Secondly, you're putting words into the mouths of a lot of people, me included, and erecting this Nintendo-oriented strawman is not a good way to prove a point.

Thirdly, assuming that the 3DS is going to be enormous isn't exactly a stretch of the imagination. It's a new handheld by Nintendo that provides glasses-free 3D and it's going to have the software backing that Nintendo has been providing to handhelds for twenty years. This isn't rocket science. At this point it's more like pattern recognition.

Granted, it's not guaranteed that the 3DS will be huge, but it's much safer to assume it will rather than that it won't.

People get excited about things on message forums, from the smaller things *looks at the Kevin Butler thread* to the bigger things *3DS reveal at E3*.

It's really not that surprising, but I'm with you in that people should focus their energies and attention to more important things in life, like Sonic the Hedgehog 4.
