Forums - Nintendo - EDGE reviews Mario Galaxy 2... Oh dear

LittleBigPlanet may not have the sales of Mario. But it is just as good.

What has that got to do with anything concerning this review and this score and this topic? LBP is not even a 3-D platformer. It's of a different genre altogether.

so it begins

Oh geez that's a great score. Despite a lot of early talk about this game really coming out to be just a sequel of unused things from the first one, it doesn't seem like Nintendo has viewed it this way at all. Based on numerous videos, news stories, interviews, new revelations, and of course this review it seems Nintendo has gone out of its way to destroy the "just a sequel notion".

Super Mario Galaxy 1 is still one of my most favorite games of this generation, but I've always been wondering how they were going to be able to pull this sequel off and still keep that "wow factor" from the first one. Well from what I've seen looks like they have done it with flying colors. Possibly redefining what we think of when we see a 2 behind a game now as it can be more than just a continuation.

Seems this thread has become more about EDGE than Super Mario Galaxy 2 which I guess is fine but I'd more like to talk about the game. EDGE to me is like any other reviewer that has their scores corrupted by outside notions and circumstances, but given their score history I do think they try to make sure large brands and big budgets don't equate to high scores.

Some people are just hurt that a certain game or certain games didn't get the review they might or might not have deserved, thus trying to find faults in Edge's Review System. I personally just love watching edge reviews for this reason alone, good or bad, they always entertain.

Also nice to see one of the best games this generations has an awesome sequel.

So I was not optimistic, Super Mario Galaxy 2 is considered as the most outstanding game to be created (well according to EDGE anyway). I am looking forward to ONM's review, another perfect score will indicate that Super Mario Galaxy 2 is in fact the best game to be created.

Well apparently Games TM gave SMG the same score if rumours are true.

So...umm.....I guess the game is pretty dam good eh?

LBP is more sandbox mix platforming than Mario.

I am looking at this to be what SMB3 was to SMB1   Not really so much a sequal to a great game, but a great game that will have its own greatness.  Well, I can hope
