360 costs 199/299 (299 is bundled with 2 of the biggest recent games), with the Arcade on sale very commonly nowadays for 169.  Meanwhile PS3 at 299 IS out of stock off and on at retailers lately.  All this -- mostly price cutting and bundling for 360 -- accounts for why 360 is up YoY and above PS3 still.  In the US only.  PS3 is getting beat in the US, but beating 360 more in Others; doesn't seem a reason to call it terrible.  You may say so but then 360 in others is more terrible.

Japan is not required to say that 360 is doing pretty bad overall.  360 is being outsold in just the US and Others combined, by the (quite a bit) more expensive PS3.  But anyway, note I didn't enter the Others or WW thread and say that.  I'm just counterspinning your spin in this thread.

You keep referring to price changes and what context they give current sales numbers, but what's more significant is still the current relative price of the consoles, one vs another.  I agree that PS3 is better hardware and worth a premium, but looking at the price differences...  Damn.  PS3 is doing just fine, as opposed to stomping ass as in the last few months.  This past week was quite a drop for PS3, but that's partly seasonal and just underscores how great PS3 has sold since the price drop.  And those great sales make current PS3 sales 'terrible' in comparison, gotcha.  For one week in one region.  That's pretty selective sniping, and you've gotta be selective, given the Others and WW numbers.

Pot, kettle, black.

Sorry I'm dizzy reading your posts.  The US PS3 numbers are still terrible regardless of any argument you put forward, shortages argument is garbage now but carry on in denial.

selling 10k less than you competition isn't terrible... and the ps3 is still the most expansive console to buy dispite the price cut, now you just keep ingnoring that fact and be in denial

@Hyruken

That is a store bundle. If you click the link below it for just the 120GB on it's own you will see that they tell you it will take 2-4 weeks before they have them available.

Many stores have these bundles because demand is up and they see an opportunity to throw in some accessories such as Controller, remotes, etc... and jack up the price, because that is where retailers bread and butter is. Bestbuy sells a PS3 @ $299.99 and they are lucky if they walk away with $5. Bestbuy sells a PS3 BD remote and/or Dualshock they walk away with ~$15+ each. Ask a Bestbuy employee what they get a Dualshock and/or BD remote for, they pay 5% above what BB paid. I bet it will be much much cheaper, like when I would get $45 USB cables for ~$2-3.

They are just using the obvious shortages to their advantage. Gamestop is doing it too. Game + PS3 + Controller for $415. This is the only way to get a 120GB from Gamestop.com. They get you to buy 2 products on top of the PS3 and coincidentally these 2 products make them the most profit.

This site swears by the PS3 having "plentiful" stock and since I have no idea how they get their info I'm not really gonna argue it, but from my perspective and the obvious signs of a shortage like standalone consoles being sold out and only being able to get it if you pony up extra dough for a bundle, to me it doesn't seem like it is really all that "plentiful".

NPD says there is a shortage, Sony says there is a shortage, the fact that many people around the US talk about stores being out of stock hints towards a shortage.

I know for a fact that my area has had shortages for a long time now.

I have no reason to lie.

Given the circumstances it really is in my opinion.  If you don't agree thats fine, you're entitled to your opinion, you will not be changing mine.
