Forums - Gaming - Which is best? Symphonia or Vesperia?

Eh, I think Vesperia is a much better game than Symphonia. I didn't think much of Symphonia. (to its defense, I only played about half of it)

... Wait... ouch... what? Where... where exactly did you stop? My god, almost everything important and awesome happens in the second half of the game.

But, if you weren't diggin' the gameplay, then I suppose it wasn't worth it to continue just for Story's sake.

Will you elaborate on why you didn't enjoy ToS? I'm just rather curious.

Just got bored with it. I wasn't a fan of the characters or story. (felt like a bad retelling of FFX's story)

I did play a bit of co-op with a friend on the second disc. Didn't pay much attention to the story, but he said it hadn't gotten any better.

Tales of Symphonia was an excellent GameCube RPG. A system that was sorely lacking in that genre.

The Tales games have always been a lot of fun, so if you like Vesperia like your OP says, then you will have a blast with ToS, especially when you get the better weapons later in the game.

I had so much fun with Tales of Symphonia, especially when it came to side quests. I remember a town that you can give money to, to help it flourish. :D I always felt good helping something out rather than being destructive; which is what you do in most games today >_> .

Actually, that was something I really enjoyed about Assassin's Creed 2. The brothel was the first thing I fixed up.

Vesperia easily. I didn't like Symphonia much. I even like its spin-off sequel more.

i haven't played vesperia but i played both symphonia and symphonia 2.

the first symphonia is a good game but greatly overrated: it's good in everything but not a masterpiece. i believe much of its reputatios is due to a "perfect storm" situation. it came out on the gamecube when there was no other rpg, it was hyped as hell by nintendo fans, it was the first tales of game to come in eu/usa since a lot of time, the anime chara design resonated with the "otaku subculture" wich was growing fast in those years and it was a good game.

symphonia 2, is a mere fandisk, filled with fanservice for the fans of the first game. it's not a bad game, but i wouldn't recommend to anyone other than tos fans.

I received Symphonia earlier today and so far I'm having a blast.

I would definitely say Vesperia is better as of now, but Symphonia is the most fun I've had on the Gamecube.

I thought Tales of Symphonia was just a little bit better. Maybe that's just the bias of being my first Tales game, but my overall experience was just better with that game. I mainly liked the story and the characters of Symphonia better. Though Vesperia is great too. You really can't go wrong with either.
