Haven't both consoles been "maxed out" a few times now? Yet they keep getting proven wrong?

I can guarentee a better looking game will appear on both the PS3 and the 360 after Crysis 2 is released.

Killzone 3, Rage, Uncharted 3, Gears 3... All have the potential to beat Crysis 2 on consoles IMO. And that's all we actually KNOW will come.

The Last Guardian will be the most visually breathtaking experience on a console, kicking crysis in the butt, those who have played the ICO series would know why

Well you can't really guarentee that, but yes there's a chance...odds are though, it'd have Crysis in the title as well. I don't think anyones disputing you could do better then Crysis 2, the question is by how much. The point Crytek was trying to get across with their graphical ceiling comment (you know the one) is that Crysis 2 sets the bar at "X" and if they made Crysis 3 and with that extra 2 years development they managed to set "X" another 3% higher then ...it really wasn't worth the effort and you're well past the point of dimished returns and it's new generation time. 

Well not really, you'd have to have a continuous increase on a regular basis. Like God of War 3 looked worse then Uncharted 2 so that's not really a redefinition of maxing out, just falling within the realms of known potential. Besides it won't be proven wrong indefinitely, after so many years usually a game shows up that sets the bar and all evolution from that point on is minimal. No better game to do it then Crysis, the Sangraal.

Well unless they go sandbox you can ditch all but Rage ...and even then the 60fps is taking it's toll. I'd put it on Doom 4 as a better candidate.

Aren't they already? I mean, Crysis is the third best FPS ever made (Half-Life 2 is the best, and The Ultimate Doom is second).
