Forums - Nintendo - Why Red Steel 2 bombed

I can't help but feel this thread was a brushfire of sorts, to prevent 30 "Why did Red Steel 2 bomb threads from coming up.

It seems to have worked. We should do this for every semi major game for every console.

i played just a tad bit of this game and so far its disappointing... from what Nintendo fans were saying i expected a lot more.

Its pretty fun to me. although I must ask why in the world are you playign that over the other games you got today? It is the least fun out of the ones you got

I'll get killed for this, but the game gets boring.

the mechanics are neat and pretty much nailed motion control, but doing it for 10 hours just for the sake of it with no good story to back it up I'm not pumped.

I'm not saying I am not enjoying the game, but it could be better Story wise...

I live for the burn...and the sting of pleasure...
I live for the sword, the steel, and the gun...

Many of your points are wrong.

It bombed because nobody liked the original one.  They should of changed the name and just started a new IP.

The dude abides

I rented it. It's not fun. Just a lot of hype if you ask me. I couldn't believe the reviews were so high.

Main problem for me: 20-30 minutes of "training" in the beginning lulled me to sleep. Bad voice acting and cinematics annoyingly appear at every turn. Finally I got to sword-fighting, which was fun... BUT... Wii Sports Resort's sword-fighting felt better and finer-tuned.

So then, after you kill two guys, back to training and bad cinematics! Ugh! This game is 70% bad cinematics and 30% Motionplus sword-swinging.

The whole western setting is incredibly dull as well. Western settings have NEVER sold games. It's just an easy cliche that never works. I can almost imagine the developers foaming at the mouth saying "Let's do a western! It'll be SO COOL!"

In terms of Motion Plus sword-fighting I think most of us are waiting for Zelda. Red Steel is a dead franchise on the Wii. I imagine they'll try to take it to the PS3 (only to have it fail in just the same way).

its bound to pick up in others at some point

The Conduit a well known bomb? I've never seen a single Wii fan in here admit that before so that's not exactly true.
