PSP should end up being the 2nd best selling platform in japan before too long, I expect the DS will go well over 40 million LTD there though

FFXIII Launched & with it PS3 became the best console of the gen for me.

Before its launch PS3 was behind DS as the DS had way better JRPG's.

It is still printing money!

I bought a DSi XL last weekend (my 4th DS) and ordered 8 RPGs for DS and 3 for PSP (less PSP than DS games, but my most wanted out of those 11 is a PSP game: Half-Minute Hero).

When all is said and done, I'll probably own more than 100 DS games. Best system this gen imo, or better said: Best library for my taste.

So now that the 3DS is announced, what will the lifetime sales of the current DS handheld be?

I think DS will level off at 150 million units sold.

He keeps ignoring the fact that Pokemon is the best RPG this generation. 

160-170m.  3DS will also drop DS pricepoints probably, which will help drive sales as well.   It's already at ~130m, and it'll move ~20m in just the next fiscal year probably.

Well, i haven't played any of both...
