I never understood why either

In fact Ash saw ho-oh in like the 2nd episode of the anime

Ho-oh has a FAR FAR better back story than lugia too!

But Ho-Oh doesn't even have a movie based around him :(

Not really.

Psychic dominance took a huge nosedive when steel and dark types were introduced and bugs and ghosts actually got some worthwhile moves.

As for the OT's question: Lugia looks a lot cooler than Ho-oh.

Lugia is cooler. And Lugia's story links him to Zapdos, my favourite pokémon.

I think Ho-oh didn't get a movie because since Ash saw him in the beginning, they saved him for some epic finale thing. But since they just keep milking the anime, that finale will never come :(

I think Ho-oh is cool. I like Lugia, but I like Ho-oh better. I had to go buy SoulSilver and trade it for my sister's HeartGold because she was hatin on my Ho-oh.
