Forums - Nintendo Discussion - Wii Belongs In Toy Market, says Will Wright GDC 10

Of course it does. It IS a toy. All videogames are, by very definition. So are the PS3 and 360. Videogames are just that: Video. Games.

Games. Toys. 'Hawdcore' gamers might not like to hear that, but that doesn't mean it's not true.

I find that offensive.

They ALL belong in the toy market. Video games are toys for kids of all ages. /thread

If your system isn't a toy, I don't want to use it.

I strive to improve my living conditions by hoarding gold, food, and sometimes keys and potions. I love adventure, fighting, and particularly winning - especially when there's a prize at stake. I occasionally get lost inside buildings and can't find the exit. I need food badly. What Video Game Character Are You?

I am surprised to hear this kind of talk anymore. Would this mean that PS3 and 360 will belong "In the Toy Market" after they get there motion addons?

you are focusing on the toy comment while he said way more. And I agree with him, Nintendo was able to expand the market while Sony and MS only focused on the hardcore. Now it seems they are interested in that market which is huge.

Exactly... people should read the entire article and then comment on it. WW allways was agenius, and even tough I only play his games for a couple of days, they are still amazing Article is a nice read, and no the accent is far from beeing put on the "Wii is a toy" part

Come on man, no need for ad hominem just because he called Wii a toy. That's ridiculous anyway, nobody has a perfect track record. Miyamoto was hardly "washed up" after Wii Music, was he?
