I love WRPGs. I used to like JRPGs but just can't get into them anymore. I think I just grew out of them.
I give this thread a 9.5.
Thank god for the disable signatures option.

Okay, I've finished figuring out what that post said.
I love WRPGs personally, but I'm no huge fan of JRPGs. I like an open world in which I can gain experience, explore, collect, etc.
I do not think I have ever played a WRPG that I have liked. JRPG's I use to love not that long ago. I still like JRPG's just do not care to play as many as before.

like some, dislike others. like most genres actually.

I'm a big fan of wRPG, yes some of them last a long time but if you get a quality wRPG then there is also replay value. But who needs replay value when a game already takes 40+ hours to compleet? A good wRPG has it all; story, gameplay, length, replay value, character development, etc.
JRPG on the other hand arent all that interesting, the formula hasnt been changed in years and when I play one it feels like they could have done so much more with it. It seems like they stick to the limits of a early 90's game while there is no reason for this anymore. I want to like JRPG aswell but they really need to revolutionize the gameplay first.
Love 'em people who don't like 'em love the RPG elements in multiplayer shooters. If it were not for these RPG elements no one would play 'em

I've grown to love RPGs over the past couple of years. I guess as I grow older I need games that I can set my own pace. FPSs are too demanding in reflex and quite honestly give me a headache.
On the story side I'm not yet satisfied with the quality. I spend 40-50 hours on FFXII and couldn't get into it, I'm currently playing "Shadowhearts" on PS2 and although I enjoy the total weirdness I can't say I'm immersed in it. I feel that the stories from the Adventure of the late 80s and earl 90s were much more coherent.
im more of a fan of WRPG rather than JRPG, but they can both be good, i just play whats good, and if it so happens to be an rpg, i will play it
