Amazing how they always predict that Wii will stop selling, and the PS3 or XBox360 magically will continue to sell forever... I wish I had such magical dreams :(

Maybe they expect that half of all PS3s sold to break down so everyone on average buys two PS3s?

I still say PS3 will achieve 75 million sales max, and that's being generous. To think it'll go over 100 million is borderline delusional at this point.

Sounds like a sound Sony strategy in moving ahead.

The Ps2 only sold so well BECAUSE it was on the market for 10 years, most of which had a huge price drop (that the PS3 will eventually see around its 5 year mark). Even if the next console is released around the PS3s 6-7 year mark, I'm sure Sony will keep the PS3 on shelves much like it has the PS2. It will still continue to sell well although not AS well. 

With the current momentum the PS3 has, 5 years won't be a problem. Its 4th and 5th years will still probably push 10 million units.

Damkira predicts analyst is delusional.

Before the gen started they predicted Wii will only sell 18 Million LTD.

The US and Japan are still the two largest national markets worldwide for userbase of game consoles.  "Most of the world" is being a bit disingenuous, in "most of the console market" PS3 was released in 2006.  And looking at actual sellthrough (ie: "sold"), PS3 still isn't at 33.5m yet.

LOL at "PS3 will last 10 years!!!". Yeah, if the PS3 *supposely* sells nothing on, say it's 7th year, would they still produce PS3s just they can say "hey see, we were right, it lasted 10 years, even though it only sold 1 million in it's last years comnined! We're genius!". Of course not. Sony is not the one who decides how much the PS3 will last. The market will. They decided how much a product will last. And why they think the Wii will dissapear in the next years? What if in 2012, people still buy the Wii at the same rate as today? Would they say the same thing? Or would they say that 2013 is the PS3 year? Or maybe 2014???

The XBOX360 will sell 300 million life time, Little Big Planet will raise it's sales to heaven, turning out to be the best selling game ever by reaching 120 million sales, surpassing even Wii Sports, and Nintendo will announce Wii HD, wich is exactly like the standart Wii but with HD, then will abandon it to let the third parties  maintain the console, then sell Nintendo to Michael Pachter and turn into a beer company. And this all in only 2 months.
