What is the casual market? Wikipedia has a good definition of a "Casual Gamer"...

Casual gamers can conceivably consist of any people who show more than a passing interest in video games, therefore it is difficult to categorize them as a group. For this reason, games which attempt to appeal to the casual player tend to strive for simple rules and ease of game play, the goal being to present a pick-up-and-play experience that people from any age group or skill level could enjoy.
Casual gaming demographics also vary greatly from those of traditional computer games, as the typical casual gamer is older and more predominantly female, with over 74% of those purchasing casual games being women. A recent survey conducted by one of the largest casual game developers shows that more than one in five (20.5%) players of casual games have a physical, mental or developmental disability.
Anyway, i count the "Casual Market" as the market on Wii that consistently buys games like this.

No this thread is about how Mario is the ONLY video game character who appeals to a huge audience of any age, sex, and race. To include that some of his main games receive outstanding recognition and top the best video games of all time lists. Mario appealing to almost anyone+quality games= superb sales. Who else will come to mind when someone talks about video games? I'm sure it's not Final Fantasy. Plus I was referring to a game character, Mario's creator is not a video game character nor is the "Wii series".
