But why wouldn't Nintendo use their big media event to promote a new bundle? Perhaps Nintendo would rather see a protracted boost in sales than a big splash, or perhaps they couldn't get a continent-wide rollout ready in time for their conference.

This has nothing to do with demand, it's a strategic move to increase WM+'s installed base.

Probably for Zelda and new titles they don't want to keep bundling it with, but also to gain a headstart against possible competition.

This would be great if it was in black also, and they should have another black wii bundle, with Monster Hunter tri.

I wonder if this is a walmart deal, not a Nintendo deal. I've heard nothing of an official Nintendo bundle, but considering how big Walmart is I wouldn't put it past them to create a real bundle on their own.

It should be interesting to to see what all this is about. Maybe they were waiting till GDC to make this announcement and maybe some other minor ones. It is only a few weeks from their recent summit. Fingers crossed maybe we also will get a Monster Hunter Tri/Wii bundle at this discounted price.
