Unfortunatelly they deserve it. Very cheap games, very low budget. Some games appear to be developed for a 16 bit system, seriously. IMO, world of gaming will be better.

You are so annoying. Nippon has 3 Issues the 1st is There Nichest of Niche and they willingly stay there, There games have such a small target audience you need a microscope to see it. They need to consider creating games with a broader appeal, GUST and ATLUS are bot Niche too but they definitely have more penetration and sell moderately well for being Niche SONY focused developers. 2nd is the Budget behind there there titles, Nippon is gonna have too step up and a risk of developing a better engine when GUST went to PS3 Altelier Iris and Ar Tonelico 3 got new engines and 3D for the 1st time - they still dont looks as good as some of the budget titles but it definitely helps at giving there game a chance to sell to ppl who blow it off because its 2D, it paid off with Altelier Rorona highest selling game in the lonb running series. They cannot continue to put these PS2 lookin games on PS3 and Xxpect alot of atention. 3rd is less ports more new work, ports never sell better the originals we already the issues.... basically stop trying this a SONY thing and look at choices the company, there putting themselves in this situation. GUST, ATLUS are primary SONY are doing good. |
Atlus is primarily DS if anything this gen (SMT, Etrian Odyssey, Trauma Center) with a little Wii (more Trauma Center) on the side. Where are you getting this "Sony focus" from? Their PSP ports and a lot of NOTHING for PS3? Atlus pretty clearly jumped ship to Nintendo this gen, and throwing secondary support to PSP.
Also, don't misunderstand me, I think NIS would be in the same spot had Prinny been on DS and Disgaea 3 on Wii instead. I definitely agree the problem with NIS is their content and practices, not their platform selection.
Also, Rorona isn't the best selling game in the series, though it did pretty well for itself. AT3 will be the best selling in it's series though.

aw come on, the guys make something great like Disgaea 3 and all people remember them for is crap like Cross Edge and Last Rebellion. Not to mention they helped bring At Tonelico and Atelier Rorona to the states.

No Ronora is actually The Highest selling since Atelier Iris PS2( current highest selling) in japan but could a most likely will be best selling when NA/EU release happens and your right about AT3. Idkkkk some your seen like your blaming platform choice and the developers, but as were clear on that I have nothing else to debate. |
Highest since Iris = / = highest selling. It's also way behind Marie iirc (which was over 200k Japan), and honestly, I wouldn't put that much stock in western sales for Rorona...

ports? 360 in japan have very little userbase
the problem it's the not the budget of the game, its they are extremely niche, have one platform to focus actually elps them
the games weren't that expensive to developed, they were even cheap since many even use sony engine, and they are exclusive for that reason alone.

I hate how people quickly turn their backs on good companies after they have a few games that aren't great. |
I like how I thought for a second there that Seraphic was saying something sensible.
And to make things even more interesting, NIS America has also announced that they're going to be doing some different things too- licensing anime. We'll see how that goes, but given the anime landscape also, it's going to be a very rocky road no matter what...

Any ports for 360 would surely be targeted mainly at the west. I think XBLA would be a better option though to be honest, I could see stuff like Classic Dungeon, Jigsaw World or Prinny doing far better there than about anywhere else.
Retail ports won't work imo, unless they're collections (ie: Disgaea Trilogy). Phantom Brave Wii already proved that full price console ports are an inherently losing proposition.
