2027 will be a massive year for Nintendo software

Yes 6 60.00%

No 2 20.00%

Maybe 2 20.00%

Total:10

2025 and 2026 have delivered some quality experiences in Nintendo titles, but it's safe to say a lot of people (and likely even a majority) aren't going to put these years as some of the best years for Nintendo games. 2017 continues to top many people's lists for its Zelda/Mario combo, among other things (even 3DS still got some Nintendo games).

I feel by time 2027 is over and we're on to 2028; Switch 2 will have been out for long enough to deliver a red-letter year.

We already have these titles confirmed

-Pokémon Winds and Waves

-Xenoblade Genesis

And these titles are likely

-3D Mario

-Luigi's Mansion 4

-Kirby platformer

-Splatoon 4

-Something Super Smash Bros. - Maybe not a new game yet but a Switch 2 version of Ultimate possibly or something crazy like a standalone Subspace Emissary+Smash Run remake combo for a budget title. That might just be added to Ultimate though.

-New IP

And very likely some Mario Kart World DLC

Xbox Series X/S: 38 million (was 60 million, then 67 million, then 57 million. then 48 million. then 40 million)

Pokémon looks promising, so hopefully for once they can deliver something worthy of the IP.

2027 will be a bigger year than this year that's for sure.

That's a bold statement haha. Pokemon IP is probably the lowest quality big IP in the industry at this point, especially after the total disgrace of Z-A.

I wouldn't get your hopes up on anything Pokemon looking promising until it's actually been played. 99% chance it's gonna be mediocre at best.

I still believe 2D Metroid will be revealed before September though. Nintendo could announce Wario Land too, somewhere before summer ends. Based on the leaks both might be coming this year. Next year is going to be huge in terms of software no doubt. Mario Maker and Luigi's Mansion might be announced this year and launching next year. 3D Mario Bros will launch in 2028 IMO, due to the launch of Mario Maker. I predict the announcement of an online game that they're working on this year too.

Nintendo gets harder and harder to predict but I agree that I don't see Mario Maker launching the same year as a new 3D Mario. I think both are coming before 2029, but I do see 3D Mario coming first. I think 3D Mario is a second half of 2027 title launching no earlier than July and no later than November.

2D Metroid and Wario Land could still be coming in 2026. But again, maybe there are next year.

It can definitly be, but so far there is no particular evidence other than "it was way too long since the last release of the game"

Pokemon and Xenoblade are the only confirmed titles

I think 3D Mario is happening, but games are taking forever to get make these days I'm not counting any game as a sure release anymore

Fair enough. I'm just hoping we're not in a Wii U situation for most of the generation where the tech demands of the system lead to much longer development times than we're used to in previous generations.

For generations of gaming, a lot of Nintendo titles took 2 years or under. Some took around a year to year and a half only. Wii U stretched several titles out to 3 or more years and decreased notable titles that took under 2 years. HD gaming was a big challenge for Nintendo developers, for one. Full active development of Breath of the Wild took about 4 years after over a year of initial planning. That was a long time for a 3D Zelda and any Nintendo game in general. Pikmin 3 took about 5 years, but only because it was rebooted after about 3 years.

Admittedly, we might already be well into the problem of protracted development cycles given how long some games are taking. On the other hand, perhaps Nintendo has protracted plenty of games intentionally to save for Switch 2. We already know Mario Kart and DK started as Switch exclusive titles way back when their development started in 2017. As they evolved it became clear they needed to be Switch 2 exclusives and were saved for later.

Nintendo's initial concepts of a 3D Mario past both Odyssey and the side course of Bowser's Fury may have been once intended as a 2022-2023 Switch exclusive (Wii got 2 3D Mario games, even if it was a duology) but shifted to a late 2020s Switch 2 exclusive after concepts and experimentation were well underway.

I feel that way about each upcoming year lol. But I do feel like 2027 will be a big year for them though. WiWa and Genesis are sure to be big hits and I feel confident that we will get a 3D Mario next year. Just those three alone will be big, but I can definitely see a lot more coming as well, like maybe Kirby and hopefully something Smash related. MK World DLC would be nice too.

If the next 3D Mario is next year then it should be since that and the first Switch 2 Pokemon generation is already huge so even just the rest of the lineup being decent would be plenty for it to be massive overall.

I think next year we will get the next 3D Mario game, whatever the new Next Level Games is (probably Luigi Mansion 4), Kirby, Mario Kart DLC from your none confirmed list. I do not think we will see Smash other than a possible Switch 2 edition or Splatoon 4. I think most the Splatoon team is work on Raiders and the Splatoon team is also apart of the Animal Crossing team and I would guess that takes priority. Now that I mention it, I do wonder if 2027 could be Animal Crossings year, If not 2027 it'll be 2028. I think we will also get Mercury Steam's Metriod 6 in 2027. I am sure there will be a few other smaller surprises, I know there is a rumor for a Wario game.

Overall 2027 is looking like a fantastic year for Nintendo fans.
