I was on VGC daily as a teen...wanted to open the time capsule. I'm interested in how it's primarily used now in the big 2026.

You missed that time this one guy filtered Rol's nudes. It was surreal.

Welcome back! We still track hardware estimates, but have switched to reporting on them monthly rather than every week to improve accuracy. We also now report on official software sales and player counts from publishers and developers rather than doing software estimates as we had no way of tracking digital sales.

Site has slowed down, but still has a dedicated core that posts regularly.

VGChartz Sales Analyst and Writer - William D'Angelo - I stream on Twitch and have my own YouTube channel discussing gaming sales and news, as well as posting random gaming content. Follow me on Bluesky.

I post and adjust the VGChartz hardware estimates, with help from Machina.

Not much, honestly. But some of us are still around. I remember you from back in the day!

That long ago? Hmmm, I don’t have any first hand knowledge as it might have been before I was born.

I describe myself as a little dose of toxic masculinity.

It's much calmer and less toxic now. So many of the posts before were because of the competition between PlayStation and Xbox but that competition doesn't exist anymore. Downside to that is, traffic to this site would've reduced because of it I assume.

The site has slowed down quite a bit, but it's also better off for it; the community is now a pretty well-knit group with similar interests in gaming and/or statistics.

Biggest loss imo is the COMG! thread(s), since they don't report numbers anymore for a couple years now...

Welcome back! I remember your avatar from back in the day. The site has shrunk in terms of popularity but there are still many cool old and new users online. We've seen the fall of Nintendo with the Wii U and the rise back to the top with the Switch, together with a lot of doom and hype. Not much on the Sony front, PS4 and PS5 have been successes, so there was not too much controversy there. But many things have also stayed the same.

So much has changed. In the gaming landscape and this site, we've gotten Xbox hardware shrinking and Nintendo on the rise.
Tons of people thought Switch would fall off a cliff before it was replaced. I may have even posted that a few times back around 2019-2021.
I wasn't here until January 2015. That year I had recently gotten a Wii U in June 2014 and made a Steam account in Summer 2015.
I think political discussions have gotten way more popular on this site than they were 10 and more years ago.
