Forums - Movies & TV - Just watched the Super Mario Bros. Movie

The Super Mario Bros. Movie aired at Studio Universal here in Brazil today at 9pm BRT, and my mom wanted to watch it. I decided to watch with her.

Well, we both had a great time. The movie is filled with video-game references like the original Super Mario Bros, Super Mario Kart, Donkey Kong Country and even some of the latter games like Super Mario 3D World, which was really fun.

I would say the mix of adventure, comedy and action works really well, so the movie is not too serious, but also not too goofy. We had a lot of laughs, my mom loved the Luma at the prison. I also enjoyed the slight addiction of drama (Mario's family not putting faith on him at the beginning).

So, yeah, it was a great movie. It's good that it's not very long too, so it doesn't overstay it's welcome.

I give it a 8.5 out of 10.

Around the Network

Yeah I thought it was a lot of fun as well. Dumb as hell, but fun.

As a Nintendo fan the various references to their games were nice little shots of nostalgia.

In my opinion it was just a very average kids film, nothing it did was particularly impressive or noteworthy other than it being Mario and full of mario fanservice/references.

7/10

I agree with Zippy. It could have been a lot better. Although I loved the singing Bowser.

I kinda forgot there was the 2023 one so thought you were referring to the one from the early 90's.
