I was just glancing through some of the oldest forums of VGChartz (I always find these old posts so interesting to look at) and noticed a trend: On a vast majority of the users active during this time, it is listed that the last time they were online was April 27, 2017.

Was there some sort of cataclysmic departure from the site that sent users fleeing this day? Or is this the consequence of a bug? I’m curious the backstory behind it all.

(I mean… I feel rather confident in saying that this is likely just a bug. So, I guess I’m more curious about the story behind the bug.)

It's a site glitch. No one on this site is listed as last online for a date before April 27th 2017.

I'm choosing to believe that Mario Kart 8 Deluxe was really that attention-grabbing the next day.

It was the BBC hacker event. Damn it was wild that day, thank God I wasnt logged during that time. I also took a time out even visiting the site, I thought it was done for good lol

But even knowing that, I feel weird that it happened "only" 3 years ago, my impression is that was way longer than that

I was about to say I was here for that, and I don't think I even knew this site prior to 2018, unless it had been a recurring problem which, well wouldn't surprise me tbh.
