Will you buy Grand Theft Auto VI if the age verification rumors are true?

Yes, I won’t let age ve... 6 18.75%

No, I’m not risking my ... 12 37.50%

Yes, if it’s just for GTA Online 1 3.13%

No, I was never getting the game 13 40.63%

Total:32

With the age verification rumors (that you’ve surely heard about by now), are you still buying GTA6? There were rumors of having to pass a face scan in order to play and now rumors suggest you’ll have to upload a copy of your ID to R*’s server to verify you’re old enough to play.

Personally, I’m leaning towards no. I will not support any game that leaves my personal information at risk of being stolen (and their servers did already get hacked twice) or makes people submit to a face scan in order to play their game (which would keep people who are old enough to get the game from playing it if they have a “baby face”) just because some/many parents are stupid and can’t be bothered to be fucking parents. It’s not my place to cover for some irresponsible parents and certainly not the government’s or the publisher’s. Making me show ID at the shop? Sure. Having to upload my ID online to play their game? Fuck right off.

This voice of reason nailed it with this vid/short:

100% in agreement with you.

I've invested too much into all the gaming platforms so if it becomes law, I guess I'll have to comply.

Edit: Be it Nintendo, Playstation, Xbox, Steam, GOG or iOS which are all the platforms I mainly use.

This won't happen. But if it did, nope. I would not play it.

With how much these companies are getting hacked and having their meta data stolen, IN THE AGE OF A.I You make a fantastic point and actually now have me reconsidering even buying the game. I'm hyped for it, but this is 100% authoritarian and has no beneficial or positive outcome. Many people will fall for it, but I don't think it's a good idea. No game is worth that risk. This sounds like a massive headache in the making.

I rarely pirate games these days, mostly because it is just more convenient to buy them and I have the money. But this would make me pirate it.

Wasn't gonna buy it anyway as I find Rockstar's games boring, but yeah this is a shitty move.

It's the job of parents to make sure their kids aren't playing adult content. Don't enforce a nanny state on the rest of us.

Not a chance. Game could be the best game of all time and I am not putting Gov ID on it's servers even if they say they delete it within a time frame.

All just to keep Little Timmy from playing when it’s the parent’s (!) responsibility to keep him from playing it in the first place. And it won’t work for most of them, anyway, parents will by-and-large either give them their ID or their kids will steal it to get access.

wasn’t planning on purchasing regardless
