Forums - Sales Discussion - Is the ratio between retail and digital on Xbox one higher than on other platforms?

Yesterday i looked in the Highscores of cod ww2 and i saw that in the multiplayer are 9.4 million users played minimum 1 round. We know that some people only play the story or others only play the zombiemode. So we can estimate that codww2 sold 10 million copies on Xboxone reatil+ digital which means that there is a very high ratio for digital at around ( 45%)

I wrote this on the gamepage of codwwII (Xone) too.

So it would be interesting to know how much players are registered on the ps4 and the pc at the highscore lists on each platform with that we would know how big every multiplayer fanbase on every platform is and we could estimate if a game is overtracked or the ratio between retail and digital is lower.

Could also mean Xbox users are more likely to share their consoles or buy 2nd hand games. Leaderboard stats can be inflated without the game getting additional sales.

Bet Shiken that COD would outsell Battlefield in 2018. http://gamrconnect.vgchartz.com/post.php?id=8749702

Users played does not equal sales, because of used games, multiple accounts, sharing a console, lending to a friend, renting games. etc.

However I would say, with no actual evidence, that XBO has a marginally higher digital ratio than ps4.

Hmm you could say due to the xbox having most of its sales in higher income countries with most likely better internet the digital ratio in those countries is better then countries will lesser speed

Romania has better Internet than germany........

If someone has the game for ps4 it would be nice if he looks in this highscore list so that we can compare.

If you want some possible evidence... EA have said a few times that FIFA`s digital % lags behind the market average due to the fact it sells so well in countries where digital sales aren`t as popular. With PS4 being easily the most popular console for FIFA it would be logical to assume that it has a significantly higher % of its userbase in those countries too and as such would have a lower digital attach rate than Xbox on a worldwide basis.

So what about that house that has one xbox one game and 4 accounts?

I figure this is true as well, to a small degree.  XB has had a strong, well-liked online system for much longer than Sony.  Therefore, it stands to reason that XB users are more likely to have converted to purchasing some or all of their games digitally.  I doubt its a big difference though.

Naaa, it's the just the natural conclusion that was inevitable from many many years of the other platform selling more software when selling software became the go to 'dig' against Playsation 3 from 360 owners. There then had to be some way of retaining the narrative. When everything is going against you (for some silly war), you grasp onto anything you can. Similar to how the exclusive argument has now miraculously changed form. There onto a better misdirection with this one though because when it's proven wrong, as it inevitably will be, the argument will shift from the number of sales to a percentage ratio in the hope they'll be able to cherry pick certain titles to create a 'win'. That will last for a little while until people can be bothered to use the same method to show how certain titles sell more numbers AND percentage sales on the PS4.

... And then we'll likely be back to the 'bundled' argument again. It's so much fun ... The problem with this is it could backfire because MS made a habit of bundling digital versions of games and I'm sure some people may point that out. They'll also likely point out that PC doesn't count if we're talking about consoles so those digital sales will have to be removed. I think I've more or less covered the next year or so. I'm done.

The PS5 Exists.

I can actually say for certain this nonsense isn't true. Hell, I can even say I have proof.

Over here in the carribeans, and in pretty much all of africa or any other part of the world where the playstation isnt offixially beimg supported. We all buy digital.

Why? because its cheaper.

We buy oir consoles from NA or EU. But its cheaper to use oir cards to go to a site like PC game supply and buy PSN cards and use those tp load our qallets and buy games than to buy thw stupidly expensive games from stores over here with their extremely limited selection of games.

Now remember that the PS4 is globally the better selling console. By far. I can't imagine how with the bulk of the ROTW sales being digital for the PS4 the XB1 would still somehow sell better digitally.

To further prove my point, in the last 4 years, since the PS4 launched, I've not seen a single physical game (outside fifa and cod that i see for sale for around $130 in the local agores here). Not one. Never even held the box of a ps4 physical game.
