Forums - Nintendo Discussion - Would Nintendo benifit the most from releasing in China?

Do you think they'd be more popular than the other 2 there?

Yes 43 44.79%

No 24 25.00%

Possibly 29 30.21%

Total:96

I was just looking at this thread, which states that the PS4 and Xbox One barely have any games in China (and said games are pretty censored), so I thought, Nintendo has a lot of pretty kid friendly games, right? Would that give them in advantage in the Chinese market? Why haven't they announced any plans to release the WiiU there? Or at least the Wii Mini?

China has a restriction on how many games you own per console so the low amount of games the Wii U has would make it the best choice for chinese gamers. Less options is not always bad.

Almost all of their games would be fine and not be censored or confiscated. This also means that they can openly advertise their games without issue too. To me it seems like China and Nintendo should go hand in hand. I'm shocked that the Wii U isn't being pimped there.

Nintendo tried China before with the iQue. I think their reticences about trying again probably indicates they had their fill of dealing with the Chinese gov last time.

But I think the answer is yes, if they could make it work.  Numerous exclusives that can easily pass the censoring check, a nice fit as a counterpart machine in a PC centric market.

The Wii U has a lesser pool of games than the PS4 or the Xbox One (this is a fact). Chinese gamers can only play a small amount of videogames per console. Therefore the smaller library of games makes the Wii U the best choice for chinese gamers, it's simple logic.
