I don't have any stock on Nintendo, why would this news make me happy?

If I had to express my feelings for this news it would be something like: "Ok, cool"

Because the market thinks it is a good move, they see this as a prfotiable move, thus Nintendo eventually makes more money, thus they can continue to make the games you like.

But if thats all you have then this thread isnt for you.  I want to know if you think this is good or bad?  if bad... why?

Much of what I have seen is gamers being gamers and knee jerking by saying this is bad purely becasue it means Ninty cater to a wider maket.  For me, that is a very weird conclusion.

I don't know if it's good or bad, only time will tell. I'm not jumping to the hate/positivty bandwagon. I'll stay in the middle ground, waiting to see what happens.

Nintendo on mobile would be catering to the casual gamers. Therefore, the real gamers are rebelling against Nintendo, it's only natural.

I still cant work out why some Nintendo fans and indeed fans of other platforms think this mobile venture is a bad idea for Nintendo.

I notice a lot of people, particularly in an online forum setting, tend to believe only in the extreme.  In the minds of many a company cannot do mobile AND other gaming.  To attempt to do so is either blasphemy or just plain black magic.

I am excited to see what kind of brand reinforcement they put on mobile devices.  That is all I see their mobile venture as, at least initially.  Get the IP out there in front of as many eyes as possible in an entertaining fashion then hope it points them to their hardware offerings.

Mobile+Quality of Life seems to be Nintendo's strategy to regain their lost Wii/DS expanded audience.

I'm not angry. I'm just upset.

Nintendo consoles bread and butter is the fact that they are the only ones that have Nintendo games. Take away their biggest strength when they lack in many other area (hardware and third party support) and you can see why fans are worried about Nintendo's future in the dedicated gaming business.

How does this take away that? Nintendo wouldn't be spending that much resources due to this being a partnership. Also Nintendo wouldn't survive very long just on home consoles and handhelds. Also Nintendo is still in the dedicated gaming business.....

Read the post again. Nintendo games are not exclusive on Nintendo systems anymore and that is their consoles' biggest strength. Nintendo may not surving very long on just console and handheld gaming but that doesnt mean they can find other ways to stay viable besides making games for other systems and potentially hurting the sales of their own.

It's a great business move for sure, especially with their decisions in the past 4-5 years as a grounds for comparison.

I doubt we'll be seeing any important game on mobile. like iwata said previously, the main focus is to atract people to their handhelds and home consoles.

I don't know why fans are mad... I'm a hardcore Nintendo fan and I'm happy because this mean $$$ for Nintendo. Oh well, the internet is so intolerant.

Quote of the week. Easily.

The internet is stupid we all know that. This are extremly good news

Nintendio has done a good thing here in the long run. The concern from fans is due to the concern that resources will be taken away from other projects for this, thus reducing the quality and output on their consoles potentially. Ofcourse the stock was going to go up, it'll make Nintendo more money. But until they can show to the fans that their actual output will not be altered on their main consoles, it's only logical that people would be concerned.

What this boils down to is an overreaction from the Internet. But I'm not surprised.

Here lies the dearly departed Nintendomination Thread.

I am dreaming of a STEAM partnership. Imagine a Steambox with Nintendo controller(s)? Want to play on pc? sure, buy the $50 Nintendo controller.

I bet that would get 3rd party support.
