So, since it was announced that SMT X FE is still in the works despite the fact there is no news on it, I would like to start a discussion thread on it.

I want you guys to start up theories on how the game could be. (Gameplay, story, how the characters interact, world setting etc)

I personally think that this game is going to be a lot like Shin Megami Tensei on story and setting, whereas the gameplay will be like Fire Emblem. I mean, it would be kinda difficult to play this game with Shin Megami Tensei's gameplay. If you think otherwise, how would it work? I'd really like some theories on this!

I think that the characters are all going to be non-related to their original games. They will all be part of one world but all have the same personallities of their character. There won't be any references to previous games and elements from a lot of the games will be added.

Hmm I actually don't know how it would be loll. I would assume that its FE type gameplay with SMT sorta setting and monsters but I seriously have no idea

Yeah. I could see SMT monsters and new characters as the villains who control the monsters. Whereas you use the Fire Emblem and SMT characters for fighting. Maybe you only get a limited amount of humans to use, and the rest are demons? Idk.

I haven't played Shin Megami Tensei yet, but I think you captured demons and could upgrade your demons with other cought demons?
(Please correct me if I'm wrong, and  please understand!)

So speculation no.1:
You can catch Fire Emblem characters, and have them mate and make stronger babies!

Sounds good, no?

Speculation no.2:
It'll be an RPG with Fire Emblem and Shin Megami Tensei Characters, with different traits out of their respective series, but with gameplay that is more JRPGish (if that even is a word) and unique to itself.

Otherwise, we know close to nothing about the game, and it's hard to speculate on close to nothing.

1st PAR: Yes, you catch demons and then can fuse them to make stronger demons

2nd PAR: Uhm no lmao

3rd PAR: I like this one. They could decide to make an entirely new combat system

4th PAR: The speculation is being based off of the SMT series and FE series. Meaning everything that is being speculated is due to elements from those franchises.

Should be an option for vaporware in poll.

I wondered for awhile how the 2 would mix, since they are quite different in game play. Shine Megami has the 3 vs 3 combat system with the element exploitation thing, and FE is tactics style. Maybe they can make it more like FE on a grid, but humans vs monsters, or maybe do it more Shin Megami style..? Maybe the FE fighters can gain magic attacks, or spell casters do the exploiting..? It can go anywhere.

As for the story, maybe a dimensional portal that connects the 2, or it could be like SMT4, where the FE world is under the SMT world?

There are so many good possibilities that could happen with this game, which is why I don`t want it canceled at all! >.

I'd guess you only fight against the demons and only play as the humans.
I'd like if the partner system from FE:Awakening gets carried over, and that you level up like in Shin Megami Tensei, where you select how many points are spent on what attribute.
I'd also guess that the game will have a combination of the weakness and trinity systems (sword>axe>lance>sword>...).

I actually started watching a lets play for Shin Megami Tensei to speculate more.

I would be hyped for this game, but considering the game is vaporware ATM and that I'm not really familiar with the SMT series, I'm not even sure how to feel.
